SciFi and Fantasy Art: Into Darkness

This is a character from my story, she's a unicorn, though not in her true form at the moment.

She looks like a regular horse, eh? Well, do regular horses have green eyes? :P She's kind of like a buttermilk buckskin, except her markings and color are not quite. She's white with black markings, mane, and tail. That's what separates her from normal equines.

That's why she has to keep running.

-----------

I spent well over eight hours on this piece, and though it's my best colored pencil piece so far, there are some shading issues. It's very, very hard for me to draw an entire background in colored pencils, I almost always resort to my acrylics XD

I think this is also the first time I've used SO much color.

I realized;

- grass is retarded and really hard to draw

- sunlight is super hard to get right

- it's a good idea to layer colors, but not when it begins to look like a hulking blob of preety colors XD

There's more of a story to where she's going (or more importantly, where she's been?), but I have yet to write that.

Hello there! Another great piece of work. The horse looks awesome. I also find sunlicht very hard to draw but I must say you did very well on it. The whole drawing is beautifully coloured. And I think there is a lot of work and patience in the grass. Well done!

:-) A. Thomason replies: "Thank you! This drawing was a lot of firsts for me, and was definitely my most challenging piece yet. I didn’t have any refs for the background, so it was a long process of trial and error to try to find out what looked right, but I was fairly happy with how it turned out 2 Above all, I think it helped me realize what I need to work more on XD Thank you, again! 2"

this is absolutaly brilliant!! I think the most i have ever taken (mostly out of impatience) is what? 2.5 -3 hours?

:-) A. Thomason replies: "Ack, I know. If you have inspiration (and good music, I might add 12 the hours fly by. I have a hard time sitting down and just drawing for that long. I like to try and finish things in one sitting, but I’ve made myself spend more time on things, spread out over a few days. It’s soo hard, but the end result is worth it 2 Thank you for commenting! 2"

That is incredible... And I have to agree with someone else, the mountains look like the badlands. Pretty! And I like the grass. Well, I love the whole thing.

:-) A. Thomason replies: "Thank you very much! This has got to be one of my favorite completed pics ever. I think it’s the first time I’ve done a half-decent sunset, too XD"

:-) A. Thomason replies: "Thank you! You are lucky to have three. I don’t really have one, it’s my mom’s, but since it is in our backyard it sorta counts XD One day maybe I’ll get my own horse, but I want to train it myself, and doubt I’ll ever have time for that :/"

Wow! I like the colours very much - the light, the grass... The mountains are also really good, and the shading is excellent!

:-) A. Thomason replies: "Thank you! I crammed so much color in here... I think I used just about every color in the set, lol. It was fun though 1"

OMG!!! DEJA VU!!!!!!!

I made something like this a few weeks ago!!! OMG it looks so much like it. Creepy. I wish I still had mine -.-

But being the idiotic, blood thirsty cow that i am, i gave it away. *pinches self*

Damn me forever

:-) A. Thomason replies: "Haha, that’s cool. My sister and I drew like the same exact thing without knowing it before ^^"

Man! How can you draw such a cool horse with coloured pencils? It’s awesome the muscle details everything about it. The horse looks so real its amazing. Congratulations

:-) A. Thomason replies: "Thank you very much! I use prismacolor pencils, which are pretty amazing, so they make drawing nice things easier ^^ "

JUST BEAUTYFUL !!!!!!!!! i love it so much
also if it was hard to draw the sunlight - you´ve done a great job......

:-) A. Thomason replies: "Thank you! Yes, my pathetic attempts at sunlight were worst on the horse itself, though it doesn’t look as garish to me as it used to XD"
