Now... There I am after eons spent hesitating if this is worth effort. I certainly hope so now that I have finally done it.

I hail from the frozen wilderness that is better known as Finland.  I  have  grown  to like my quiet and humble life there -it has made me a quiet and humble man.  I  am not a man of ambitions but my great dream is to someday earn my living by drawing comics. In Finland  a dream like that is considered as a madness. The market is simply too small to give living for more than a handful of professionals and I am *far* from the professional level. I strive to reach that level and although there is still much to improve I think that if I am persistent enough I will eventually succeed.

George RR Martin's a Song of Ice and Fire is a great inspiration to me. I hope that I can find more time to spend drawing scenes from the world of Seven Kingdoms!

Welcome to the woods and congrats on the Mod's Choice being so early!!! I love your watercolor paintings, "The Red Mountains" are gorgeous at being your first serious watercolor. My personal favorite is "Angel of Wisdom". I don't know why...it seems like he has a story behind him that could be so great if written by a master story-teller.

:-) Timo Heikura replies: "Thanks a lot! It's great that you liked my "The Red Mountains". I have to say that it is much better in real life. The scanning quality in that pic is almost outstandingly low, due to the fact that I didn't use my own scanner. "

You have a great style. Your anatomy and understanding of fabric is really good. I think you're already better than most American comic book artists. I hope to one day see your work put in print. I'll be looking out for more of your work in Elfwood!

Your line work is amazing. What materials are you using specifically? What type of pens and such.Thank you for your kind comment! 2

:-) Timo Heikura replies: "The technique and materials I use are nothing very special. Just any smooth tectured paper will do. First I pencil the pic in with HB and then ink it usually with a 01-thickness drawing pen. The brand I use is "DR pilot". It uses ink and is commonly found in most of the book- and artstores here in Finland. It takes a lot of re-tracing the lines to create the varying thicknesses that make the shape of an object or a person. I like the style because it gives maximum control over the result as opposed to inking by brush where the line is more spontaneous.I hope this helped you. 12"

Good day to you fellow woodlander. It's nice to meet more finnish people in here.
If you can keep that quality up (which I know is really pain in the ass while drawing comics) you will sure pass Huitula and Hiltunen. I read comics a lot and you are skillful enough, but remember that good storyline is more important.
    Keep up the wonderful work.
