SciFi and Fantasy Art: Leiko

Leiko is a member of clan Ishimura and was drawn for myst.org's MGC. Leiko means arrogant in Japanese and I thought it just fit his expression too perfectly. (it didn't scan well, but the eyeridges are a bit heavier, almost angry, in the original)

This is a great picture but I don't see how his face is Arrogant it looks more unsure.

:-) Megan 'Pathrell' Tittle replies: "Yeah... stupid scanner... he should have heavier brow ridges..."

Could you possibly be confusing the letter 'L' with the letter 'R'? L's are not actually in the Japanese language, but the letter R is usually said with a strong mix of L-sound in there with it... I love the idea of fantasy creatures in old Japan. ^.^ Pretty!

:-) Megan 'Pathrell' Tittle replies: "Hai, I know, but I found this name in about three books and decided to use it anyway. *grin*"

Ooh, I love it! Especially the outfit and the horns and the tailtip. Nice hands! 1

:-) Megan 'Pathrell' Tittle replies: "Yeah, I like his hands too... it was a funny angle to draw them at, but they're pretty detailed for hands I drew. 12"

Your colors are so nice and seem to be smooth, and I have to ask what it is that you use. Also what technique too. I have trouble a lot with coloring my pictures and expecially with hands if you have tips I'd love to hear them!

:-) Megan 'Pathrell' Tittle replies: "Actually, it's just colored pencils! Prismacolors are the best cause of their softness and their ease of blending. just play with them, its fun! there's a book called textures in colored pencil that may help, also."
