In all fantasy books i've read i've always felt its sacrilage the way elves are written and drawn. How can people take the astounding beings that Tolkein created and make them into such weak shadows? But i gotta say; your picture is amazing, the first truly original one i've come across that doesn't feel like a Tolkein rip-off. Worthy of the name Elf!

Two things.
A)Tolkien didn't invent the idea of Elves being the way he used them. In fact, Tolkien didn't "invent" anything, he simply used old ideas in the most amazing, spectacular, original, and incomparable way ever. But Elves had been around in that form for a very long time before Tolkien. Sorry to burst your bubble.
There's nothing that says Elves can't be just as ugly as anyone else. Afterall, Elves are people too, in a manner of speaking. Want proof? Read Terry Brooks. They have faults, foibles, and failings, just like you and me.

Oh, and this picture, and almost everything else in this gallery, is very good. very much MY cup of tea.
