My shading´s usually not enough.. I´ve got less practice.. So: Keep practicing (and check out my gallery, if you want to. I would like to get some more comments and criticism)..!

Hi Tony!
»I can go a whole year without drawing anything and then can't go days without drawing something.« I could´ve written that, it´s exactly what I feel and do.. Oh, and welcome to the woods *does a stupid first-comment-dance*
I like your dragon head, and the dragon forebody and the other head and... everything. You could try to shade a bit more...
So just KEEP ON DRAWING and don´t go a year without doing that *smile*

:-) Tony R. Thompson replies: "Hey Franziska! Thank you for your comment. Yeah, my shading tends to be sporadic, its usually either not enough or too much. Most of the time its too much so I'm trying to back off a little bit because that just messes with the picture."

Actually I think more shading is good advice.. or is it line art that you prefer? In any case practice helps ( I know everyone says that) also copy pictures- that's right.. try to copy a photograph of an animal or a picture of a dinosaur or just sit outside and draw what you see if you think copying stuff off paper is wrong (I think it's okay as long as you don't claim them as your own). It's great practice. It teaches you how real objects look and cast shadows etc all artists copy in some way. You can't draw anything if you've never seen it or a number of simillar things before. An artist can only draw a person realistically because they've seen someone and are copying some image from a picture or an image in their head. The year I improved most was after I copied a lot of wildlife photographs.. it just tought me how to do eyes, fur and claws. Now I can draw independantly 2 Bah I hope I haven't sounded too 'up myself' but hopefully you can atleast take something from what I said.. Good luck. Keep it up and I hope to see more in the future.. 2

:-) Tony R. Thompson replies: "Thank you for your advice. I just prefer not to copy things wholly, I normally take a picture or idea and change it to my liking. And I am constantly on the look for a real dragon picture or being to work off of, but so far no such luck 2. And textures are also new to me, sometimes I will start a texture and I cant follow through making it look the same throughout, so I'm working more on outlining and getting positions right and with the right shading, I think textures will come next. Thank you for your comment!"

We sure enjoyed your visit to Oregon lst month! I thought I'd check to see whether you have done any more with your drawing - actually, I don't know when you would have found time in the last few weeks - you world traveler you! Good luck with the bike race this weekend.
