SciFi and Fantasy Art: B is for Basilisk

My sister had to make an ABC book for college and she chose to focus on fantasy creatures. B is for Basilisk. Now, I know some of you are going to say 'I saw Harry Potter, and that's not a basilisk!' Well, according to the fantasy books I've read, the names Basilisk and Cockatrice are generally interchangeable. To be honest, I'd have called this a cockatrice but I already had Cerberus for C. So, please don't complain about how this doesn't look like the basilisk in Harry Potter or whatever. Just humor me, ok?

Let me start by saying THANK YOU!!
I get so many people in my school who think ((thanks to Mr. Potter)) that a basalisk is a giant snake...
100 points to you for doing your research!!

And your BASALISK is simply adorable! Great job!

Actually...this picture looks more like a cocatrice, a distant relitive to the basklisk. A cockatrice as also more powerful because it's breath killed all living things (which is why it lived in a desert) and it's stare alone could turn you to dust....however now a days basilisk and cockatrice ARE used interchangeably so I guess it really doesn't matter.

Nice picture. And as a matter of fact that is how most people believed the basilisk looked. You know. Like a funky chicken. o_o
