SciFi and Fantasy Art: Court of the Faerie Queen

This one is still in progress. It shows the Faerie Court of Queen Eilla in the Great Forest. I like the angle of it, but I'm just not happy with it. I need to change the faeries a little, but otherwise, what do you think? Any comments and suggestions?

Hear hear. This one's fantastic, when are we gonna see it finished? So relaxed and life-like a pose, I love it.

Amazing. Completely astonishing. Look, buddy, I understand the freedom of expression, and i understand you are mature. But, please try to remember that nothing is banned easily on elfwood without banning many other pages as well. I don't think I need to finish this thought.

The foreshortening doesn't look quite right on that arm, but overall the queen and her subjects look lovely. This would look great with some really lavish detail; I'll have to come back to see it finished.

What was that comment about being banned was about? Surely not the backs of naked fairies??

I really like this picture, but I have to agree with someone up there ^ above this comment. She probably would look more regal if she were larger than the faeries in the foreground. I presonally think it would work better if she were reaching toward the back of the picture, but not really looking at the faerie there, as if she's too good.

But then again, I also really like this composition because it focuses alot of the attention on her. I really like this picture, but my only last quibble is that I keep thinking she's going to fall out of the left-hand side (mine) of the picture). Still love your work.

This is definitely worth continuing work on! There are a couple things that seem wonky, but it's doable. The faerie in the top left should be knocked out of the picture. It's like a wedding picture where somebody starts walking across the corner of the picture and completely distracts the attention from the bride and groom. Perhaps if you want to show the queen's other subjects, they should be below and/or behind her to establish that she's the one you want to focus on. It also seems a little strange that the queen is so insanely beautiful and curvy when her subjects all seem to be dying of malnutrition...hmm. I won't gripe you about her hand because I know foreshortening is a devil to do. Other than that, just make sure you establish whatever she is sitting on, because she feels very unstable wherever she is. Great sketch. Keep at it!

You may want to try a more Indian cast. Some art by Indian river gallery by Penni Anne Cross could give you some ideas.
