SciFi and Fantasy Art: Crucifixion City

Part of the credit for this idea goes to a friend of mine, who once led our RPG group in a demented adventure to a city powered by the body of a dead dragon. Well, it was a vivid image, but being a perverse sort, I got to thinking--couldn't you get MORE power out of a live dragon? They're big flying arcane batteries, after all. Chain one up to the wall, run some tubes into him, and you've got magical power enough for anything, power to construct buildings Euclid never dreamed of, power to make your civilization invincible, power to give everybody hot water while the rest of the world hasn't yet invented steel. Sure, it's immoral, but indoor plumbing is hard to give up. The screaming? Well, you get used to it after a month or so, and he really doesn't have the strength to scream much anymore, now that we ran that big tube up his spine... welcome to Crucifixion City.

Wow...disturbingly gorgeous. Have to agree with Cassandra -- this is one of those images I’ll never get rid of. Thinking of showing this to our Sunday night DM to see if he could create a Cthulhu campaign around the concept.

love this photo. its very powerful.
My fav part I think (total history buff here) is that you have the dragon on a "stake" rather than a Crucifix. For some rather Pagan reasons (lol funny isnt it christianity is susposed to stand agaisnt/be better than paganism yet they adopt their ideas so freely) christianity adopted the idea that christ was crucified on a cross which was rather unlikely. They used stakes. There is even a passage in the bible stating " Christ by purchase released us from the purchase of the Law by becoming a curse instead of us, because it is written, Accursed is every man held upon a stake" The apostal Paul. Anyway though I would throw that out there and wait for the inveidable screaming to follow. 12

That is such a lovely story and it truly shows what people do to the world around them.

I like the picture as well as the style used to create it, but to make a dragon suffer for indoor pluming!? I’d rather use a latrine.
