SciFi and Fantasy Art: Giant and Fairy

The giant's name is Mududungus, the fairy is probably something unfortunately like Trout Lily. And that's pretty much all I know--how they met, or what happens next is a mystery. (I just paint 'em, I don't always get their stories.) The technique, using saturated blue as a shadow for orange, is after Maxfield Parrish, who could do positively heartbreaking things with color that I admire greatly. And, as always, prints are available--just drop an e-mail!

Hi! I love this painting and would love to purchase a print of it, but the system isn't letting me send you an email! I would love to buy this as a birthday present to give to someone on July 12, 2006. Could you please contact me? I love the mood of this painting, the portrayal of a curious giant instead of an agressive, fairy-stomping giant!

OK...the troll was sent by his evil troll king to kill the fairy colony...but he fell so deeply in love with this one lovely fairy that he could not do the deed. He fought with the troll king in a battle to the death, and though he was the victor he can never go back to his home; he is now forever an exile. The fairy is ever grateful to the troll for saving her life, but alas, cannot return his love. Heartbroken, yet strangely sated with the impassioned love which he had never known before, the troll is about to make his way alone in the world. This is his goodbye.

I've looked for a good beauty/beast picture for a long time now but it seems my search is over. I simply love this kind of theme, the seemingly 'evil' giant meeting the all-good fairy. Great job with lighting, mysterious and beautiful.

this artwork is really beautiful. the expression on the giant’s face is so endearing, and the fairy reminds me of tinkerbell. the colours are... wow. the light from the fairy seems to illuminate the canyon. 2

This is awesome! It reminds me of a movie I saw, The Legend of the Leprechauns, or something like that.
