SciFi and Fantasy Art: Maidenblood Redux

When you think about it, it was really sort've inevitable. The virgin and the unicorn had been stuck together for a long time. They were both semi-mythical, and unlucky in love--men weren't allowed with a hundred feet of her, and his last girlfriend left him for a smooth-talking Thoroughbred who claimed to be descended from Secretariat. I'm sure it started innocently enough--a little chaste snuggling, maybe the occasional backrub. People, and unicorns, get lonely. Who am I to judge? (A bit of background...once upon a time, some years ago, I did a painting called 'Maidenblood' that was based on this same implied concept. The idea, however...odd...struck me, as I was paging through some old work, and I decided to redo the piece with my vastly improved skills. (You can all be grateful that I was unable to design an equine ball-gag, and lord knows, I tried.) The woman's based rather loosely on some shots of Betty Page...I figured since I was mucking around with archetypes, I might as well go all out.)

As far as what's on the horn, I don't wanna go there. whistles and thinks of tropical punch Kool-aid HOWEVER, the description is hilarious (a back run by a unicorn...yowch!!) and the picture is will done. Really interesting how the "virginal woman" is white haired and fair, and the horse is dark-hued. I like that.

I just now got the significance of the picture’s title. That’s what I get for surfing Elfwood at 3:00 am.
