SciFi and Fantasy Art: Raj and Rajah

Did this piece a few months ago, in a peculiar style that I've been playing around with, and which is more or less only possible digitally, more or less carved out of black and white lines in a kind of furious megascribble mode in Painter 7. Works well for my particular style of painting, which consists of explosions of frantic energy followed by drained stupor. Anyway, finally got around to coloring it--the particular technique requires a sort of cel-style coloring to work. Not exactly my standard, but fun to do, and works really well for black and white illos, which I've used it on a few times hence. As for any more details...well, they're tigers, they seem to be pretty close, and any more interpretation than that, I leave to the mind of the viewer. Prints are available--drop me an e-mail.

13 Mar 2008	The Truth	Loading... I’ll try to ignore the fuzzies, but I like this. I mean I wish it was not those freaky wierd animal human things, but on an artistic level it is very well done.

Well, the interpretation seems pretty obvious to me, if I may be so bold as to hypothesize. They’re either father and daughter or husband and wife, and the male is consoling the female due to some impending disaster, like an imminent asteroid impact or an enemy invasion. I can clearly see fear on her face and sadness in his eyes. Emotions are simply pouring off this picture, the emotional intensity and clarity is simply incredible. And I like the ala-comics style...
