SciFi and Fantasy Art: Owlgryphon

This is Surianor Madelian, an owl gryphon chara from the Gryphon and Phoenix stories. Surianor of course is night active. His feathers are mostly black with some light brown parts. He also is a prince, the first son of the gryphon king Gwyntbrawd Madelian of Uainetir. Made with Photoshop.

Nice artwork!! I love this picture. The moon shines so bright...

:-) Uta ´Freawyn´ Hesse replies: "Thank you very much. The moon is a typically bright Brycemoon, perhaps. I would be glad I knew how to give that Brycemoon a different look, for example the look of a planet, perhaps. Some of our gryphon and phoenix moons, like Erlinnon, are worlds. And opposite..."

I like the idea, to make the gryphon part owl, part lion. Although it is not unique, the picture is great.

:-) Uta ´Freawyn´ Hesse replies: "Thank you. Usually I love the classical gryphon. But as you can see n some other gryphon races I did as well, sometimes it really makes fun to experiment with them. Usually they are all basing on raptor birds and big cats like lions and tigers, and I vary them so that they fit in the situation they were meant for, like the night, the sea or under the earth."

oh wow! the colours are amazing... i love the moon...its a very well composed picture. Go you!

:-) Uta ´Freawyn´ Hesse replies: "Thank you. The moon was one of the easiest things to do, because its bryce! But thank you for liking the composition!"

Great. An owl-gryphon, I have never heard of that!
The feathers are rally fantastic. It looks like long, tireless work and the result is stunning.

:-) Uta ´Freawyn´ Hesse replies: "Oh, thank you. It was nor much more work then some others of my gryphons. The gryphon was made with Photoshop, the background with Bryce which you know is a program which makes it easy to compose backgrounds. The most difficult thing for me was to compose it so, that the gryphon at least fit into the persective. The idea of the owlgryphon itself is not new, though. I though it was when I did it but quickly found out that there are really better pieces of owlgryphons around here in elfwood!"
