SciFi and Fantasy Art: -= The Thief =-This thief is a master of shadows. You are getting a rare glimpse of one who would spend most of his time lurking in the shadows.
| | | | | Date | Name | Comment | | | 11 Feb 2002 | Taelist The Thief | Thieves generally use Throwing Knives, Daggers, Bows, and Short Swords. They are supposed to be strong and quick. So they wear light clothing, and nothing with ribbons and long garments, thier legs have to be free to move. Good drawing though. | |
| 5 Oct 2002 | Kexoed | Where can you get a pattern for that outfit It's really neat looking... greath job... | |
| 15 Oct 2002 | Stoopid fif | come on...a thief with a reaally long katana isn't going to sneak about a lot without being seen too often now will he? what i'm getting at is that thieves rather don't use sword or any other weapon at all...take "Thief" (the game, bloody good one too)for example. There, on the harder levels of difficulty you couldn't kill anyone. but hey! whose gonna care about such a damned stuborn guy like me? it's a great drawing anyways and congratulations for creating it! | |
| 10 Dec 2002 | Anonymous | I was just reading everyone's comments on the thief's clothing and weapon choice, and I just thought I'd offer my two cents. Thieves will sometimes where cloaks to hide their identity, as well as the actions of their hands. Besides, a good thief shouldn't have to run. By the time the victim realizes what has happened, the thief will be long gone. As for the sword, it just throws off suspicion of being a thief that much more. Besides he may specialize in it and be just as affective with a long blade as with a dagger. Well, those are just my thoughts on that matter. Excellent drawing by the way. | |

| 20 Mar 2003 | Nicholas Miller | woah, that's cool, it's exactly like a GURPS character of mine, only mines an elf (which this very well could be) and uses a blowgun as well as a sword | |
| 12 May 2003 | Fletcher | *goes all starry-eyed at the mention of Thief* Excellent game! But that's besides the point, excellent drawing!! ^.~ I agree, theives may wear long cloakes to blend into the shadows and conceal stuff, but normally would use a sword (let alone a longsword), they're loud. Good work! | |
| 11 Jun 2004 | Kalin_XVII | Those of you complaining about the sword must never have heard of Ninjas. They used katanas- granted, they weren't samurai quality, but nonetheless katanas- in essentially the same fashion as any thief or assassin would. Silence was equally as important to them, if not more important. Excellent drawing. | |
| 29 Apr 2005 | Anonymous | Okay, the thief SHOULD wear a cloak, with LESS loose items dangling from him, also, the thief shouldn't have any "large" weapons, more so, daggers, or throwing knives, also thieves ARENT strong, theyre one of the weakest classes out there "in defence" along with the mage, and when I say weak, I mean physically. Yes thieves ARE quick, and should conceal their identity with a hooded cloak.
Ninjas and assassins should also use daggers not LONG swords or even katanas, katanas are for swordsman, ninjas/thieves/assassins should use small, quick, but deadly weapons, maybe a combination of assassin/alchemy, to apply the poison to their daggers. Enough said.
| 9 Jun 2006 | Anonymous | Everyone who is bashing this picture because of the articles of clothing and weapon choice should really pay attention to that fact that not every thief will be alike. About the loose items, it helps to break the outline of the human form, which is very important. The sword's point being asymmetrical does keep it from being a traditional long sword and more along the lines of a katana, but you have to remember that when wielded in the manner being done now, the sword becomes more top heavy on the downswing and provides the power needed for such a killing stroke. The point makes it great for stabbing, too, like a rapier, and its thin blade would also make it light to carry. It is not a rule for thieves to use only knives and daggers and such, but it's wise to carry a weapon that does not encumber you. While big, its design seems to make it lighter than most swords of that length. | |
