| 30 Jul 2004 | | *grin* I love her hair. Looks like a big fluffly pillow... Beautiful picture. I can find no problems with it, which is a major accomplishment when I am critiquing. I love the lighting as well, and that sword is waaaay better than I can do. Cheers! Shawnna 'Shiva' Jones | |
| 30 Jul 2004 | Shysie | . . . What? You means because this is actually a slightly joyful heart warming picture no one is going to comment on it? WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU FREAKS?! THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL LIVING BREATHING MODEL OF THE TRUE MEANING OF FREEDOM! ARE YOU ALL BLIND????!!!! Oops, I really gotta stop that, people are gonna start thinking I'm weird. Um, nice pic! | |
| 2 Aug 2004 | Sea child | This is so pretty and fantastic as your work always is! Go you! | |
| 21 Oct 2004 | Meike de Nooy | HAd to go look.. have a picture with the same title and the same spirit. I can see the Liberation definitely! And the colours are wonderfull. Just wonder what the sword is for.. a symbol of cutting free? or a way to decide what she wants for herself. Either way, beautifull!! | |
| 12 Jan 2005 | Noa Eren | Gorgeous. It's wonderful to see that you're not only excellent at creating dark scary things. However, I disagree with the first commentator - I don't see perfect freedom here. She's looking back over her shoulder, which to me suggests some attachment to what she's leaving behind (supposedly freeing herself from). The flow of her hair helps create the movement and atmosphere, but it also seems to be reaching out to her from behind. The sword... well, I don't know what to make of the sword. It's turned backwards, so she's not attacking anything - perhaps pointing it at whatever it is that's behind her, as a warning? This picture raises some questions, which to me is the mark of a work well done. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but all those contradictions with the standard idea of freedom make this picture very interesting to me. Great job. | |
| 25 Sep 2005 | MooNDoGG | First of all I'm only half of the way through going through these works, and I must say that Jessie I really think that your work has improved so much since we last worked together... remember portfolio class? Second, in reading some of the comments that you people have written... you all read way too much into this work really... Knowing the artist... somewhat... and having seen him work it could be said that most of his work does not have any social commentary, I don't believe that He's trying to make us think, I think that he's just trying to give us something that is pleasing to the eye and forces us to use our imaginations when we see it... Great work... I'm gonna finish looking at the rest of this gallery now... | |
| 20 Nov 2005 | Spok | This picture really... I dunno. It's good. It has a lot of emotiony, movementy, epicish stuff. And that's good. Um, yeah. I like it. | |
| 16 Jul 2006 | Jamie Wyld | before the shadows - came the light.
I am reminded of the story of Pan Dora's box, the last thing out after the despair, fear, hate, lothing....
was hope.
If I could vote for 'mods choice' - or sway it in any way at all, this picture would be it. | |
