SciFi and Fantasy Art: Varda Leshan Ravenbrow Cole Guery, Queen of the Morai

Yet another of the denziens of 'my world', Varda is the Queen of the Morai people. She is an Ancient, which is the reason for all the last names... She uses her kindness and wisdom to rule her people fairly. The picture itself was inspired by part of the later Elfquest series featuring Winnowill (one of my favorites). I've always pictured Varda sitting in one of those huge, high-backed chairs; which is how I have her here. Normally, I don't like blue gowns, but I always make a few exceptions. Perhaps later, I'll post a picture of the doll I made of her, and the original sketch of Varda in her traveling garb.

I love this picture she looks so regal, What was the medium you used?

This one was done with acrylics. I found the most spectacular metalic silver paint for the breast-plate, and had to do something with it. I love gems and jewelery....someday, I'll let you read up on her a bit, Beck. Thanks, sis 2

The dress has quite a gel-like, viscous, translucent appearance. I like the way you've painted it. A very unusual looking garment.

I think the gown was inspired by something out of an ElfQuest(C) comic. The character herself has a very "fluid" personality, if you will, and I wanted to capture that here.

Kya! I love Winnowill! I did a vertion of her too and got is posted up at the W.I.S.H. web-site (a site all about and for Winny!), and I think you should post this there too! I'm sure all of us Elf Quest fans would love to see this up!

You noticed! Yes, she was inspired by Winnowill, though hadn't intended for the piece to look quite so much like her. I have more EQ shots on my Personal Gallery...There's one of Winnowill there that you might like 2
