SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Unhappy Vampire

This is Tobias and he's very unhappy. Someone whom he befriended and whose life he saved has betrayed him.

phwoar *first comment drool* he is my favourite - he is so beautiful i feel sorry for him, he doesnt look tooput out though i admit, and Tobias is one of my favourite names!!

1 Wayne H. Hodge replies: "Thank you!! I'm really glad that you like him. I also have a 27 chapter story that goes with this but I can't post it here because it is of an adult nature. If you'd like to read it I can send it to you by E-Mail. "

The background is very well done. Will anymore detailing be put to it?

1 Wayne H. Hodge replies: "Glad you like the background. I put a lot of work into it. It's finished, I won't be adding anything more to it. "

This is very good Wayne. You do what you do very well. He doesn't look to upset, maybe a little more would do it. Though I couldn't look for long, I am at my grandparents in the open, if they saw me looking at this in detail they'd probably get iffy. So, I'll comment again at a later date.

Still awesome.

1 Wayne H. Hodge replies: "Thanks Matt my friend. Glad you like it. "

Ireally love the way you handle the black and whites. Can I get a copy of the story?

1 Wayne H. Hodge replies: "Thank You! Yes you can have a copy of the story but I misnumbered some of the last chapters so you'll have to figure them out for yourself. Drop me and 'E' with your address and I'll send you all 20 or 30 some chapters. My address is:leatherwing010855@msn.com"

Ahh lol I love it! Male nudity! It's great, I wish mor people would try this. This is really great also the detail! Wow, the background is beautiful! =)

1 Wayne H. Hodge replies: "Thank You!! I'm really glad that you like my art. There are a few other artists in the woods tha draw male nudity but not to the extent that I do. I have also caught a lot of flack for doing such art. I don't think most people are tough enough to handle the flames you get from doing this type of art because believe me I have been flamed hundreds of times for my art work. "

Great pose, but another example of the facial expression not quite coming across as described. I love the robe and the nails. Maybe a little more something in the face, and if he were gripping the rail with the other hand more roughly/tightly, it would come across as more betrayed and angry? I wish more artists would be so brave.

1 Wayne H. Hodge replies: "Thank you for the wonderful comment. I really appreciate it. But in this one I was letting the body language do the talking more so than the eyes. The story that I wrote for this at my other gallery explains things a lot more. "

Hehehe! I love how he's just standing there, looking naked. Just, naked. Not much else. Just standing around being naked. Why not? 'Hey, I know what I'll do tonight! I'll stand there and be naked!' He says.

*ahem*

Sorry there. Not at all intended as an insult I assure you, the thought just occurred...actually, I think the whole standing around thing adds to it. Betrayed and hurt you say? So he feels a bit put out, and bit annoyed. My impression is that he's stood there seething, plotting revenge. I know it's been said already, but you might want to work on his expression a little bit. Tying in with the standing around feeling hurt idea, I'd suggest focusing particularly on the eyes. We hide a lot behind them...

The background looks great! The primary reason I commented here was simply to say how impressive your crosshatching is. Fantastic work there! The anatomy too. All in all, superb as ever. Great job Wayne!

1 Wayne H. Hodge replies: "Thank you for that wonderful comment. There is a 27 chapter story that goes with this drawing which I cannot post here. In accordance wth the story he has the proper look. *grins* "

I know he is unhappy, but I don't think it really expresses that in his face... Well with that body, no one should ever be unhappy!

Gosh you must know more about the male body than men themselves!

I love your artwork, especially the vampires! 12

1 Wayne H. Hodge replies: "Thank you for that nice compliment Gina. I wasn't going for sadness when I drew him. But afterwards his eyes just looked sad to me. I have actually been drawing and studying the nude male for 31 years. So I guess you could say I know a little bit about the male body. LOL"

great pic, i think he looks pretty angry, in a quiet, revenge-plotting way, i wish i could be there to comfort him, lol!

:-) Wayne H. Hodge replies: "Thank you so much. You are the only one that has seen the anger laying just beneath the surface. I’m glad you like the drawing and because you seen what others haven’t you win a prize. You get to spend an intire weekend with him in his castle. =) "
