SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Watcher in the wood

'Remember human you may travel through our lands but you will always be under our gaze'. In the Elfwood, even if you don't see them the elves are always watching. This was a bit of a cheat actually. The forest I painted earlier this year to see if I still could, I was intending to place some Poser figures into it but I havent got Poser yet. So I placed a figure into some layers and this is the final result. Done in acrylic on overly thin cartridge paper, if you hold it up to the light you can see through it!!

Nice sense of a thick living woodland here, and that watcher is well placed. Green tree trunks make me think of warm and damp sorts of places, a bit south of my own 'stumping grounds.'

45 Dave Cripps replies: "Warm, damp, boggy, take your best boots. You could loose your shoes in some of those bogs..."

...WHUOH!!! i usually felt sympathetic with the clothet guy in your pictures but in here he's really freaky, but i mean, REALLY freaky...!!! because you've created such a vivid truthful picture so it makes you think and imagine your all happy in the woods and then suddenly see some clothed weird guy... beware...!!! maybe he also reminds me of a nazgul rider guy, that's why... don't know, but the colours again and the effect of your acrylics are just amazing...2!!!

45 Dave Cripps replies: "As it says in the warning if you are up to no good then beware!"

Not only a beautiful forest scene, but eerily atmospheric when the eye catches sight of the watcher. Wonderful work.

45 Dave Cripps replies: "Thank you. One day I hope to get the same comments from my portraits .... LOL"

:-) Dave Cripps replies: "They are big and I could not even get my arms around the trunks. not that I go around hugging trees. They just drop things on your head they don’t appreciate it...."
