I had lots of fun making this, though the spark is more difficult in the newest version of PovRay. It is simply a literal (and clearly magical) fire ant.

Having used Povray for a few years myself, I would have to say that this is an extremely well put together image. If only complex animations were a bit easier, I'd still be using it myself. I love the use of lighting and texture you've got here.

Where are all the random shadows coming from?

:-) Nicholas Aodhagan Webb replies: "They're not really random. They're from light-sources I placed in order to get the ant illuminated. "

I love the mysterious quality about it. The shadows really bring out the "fire" part of the ant. It looks like something one stumble's upon in a serene dream, where anything is possible. Your artwork is magnificent. You've spent alot of time thinking this one out- its great.
