SciFi and Fantasy Art: Arttrade

This is my part of an arttrade with Wendelien. She asked me (well, asked, hinted rather) to draw her char Cayo. At the time when I was drawing this, I only had the sketch on her page to look at, so it doesn't look very much like him, though Wendelien did recognize him XD Also, he can't use magic, but me being a magic-freak, I made him hold an energyball. Experimented with the colors, and kinda like the way the lighting on the hands came out, although I know it's not really technically correct....

23 Nov 2002	Henri Paves	Loading... The hands look a whole lot better on thumbnail... And my first impression was that he was a she... Ok, I still have that impression and I can't help myself... Unlike on your previous pictures, this time you have solved your background problem effortlessly, but it looks very nice and very... erm, dark. At first I was sure I liked your "old style" better, but I'm not so sure anymore, because this one is damn good also. Finally a funny thought: Since he can't use magic (but he really wanted to) he finally succeeded tricking the higher powers with air filled rubber gloves.

(If you want yaoi..I can do that too heheh) Anyways, thanks again, it's so cool to see someone else having interpreted my most loved character ^_^ Did you find out what you're gonna study yet?
2 May 2004	Jen	Loading... This. Is. GREAT. You may've noticed that I haven't called all of your drawings amazing and things like that, I've kept to 'nice' and 'good' mostly. But this one is really WONDERFUL. I mean it, you've captured an emotion of... i don't know... almost laziness, but he also seems consentrated, and really patient and friendly! His hand's aren't perfect, but hey - nobody are! I Love the shading and his hair and... well, in other words: excellent work! Keep it up!
