SciFi and Fantasy Art: Spirit of the Woods

Is she a fairy, or an elemental, or a witch...? The spirit of the woods brings warmth and growth to the deep forest as she dances with the denizens of this ancient kingdom... Done for the Pixeled Gfx-compo at the demoparty Dreamhack 2000. Ended up in third place out of 22. I finished this one under a lot of stress: my artpad was messed up and the deadline was approaching! It ended up with me borrowing a friends' computer and coloring the thing while listening to Aphex Twin, painting for seven hours straight. Man, did my finger hurt after that... ;o)

I like the idea of a pretty nymph dancing with the kind of ugly guys, like she sees the beauty inside of them and what they look like doesn't matter.
