SciFi and Fantasy Art: Unforgiven

A watercolor painting which was done for a german community called Elfenheim (which means Elven-dwelling or something) where workshops are held (the picture 'Sleeping Innocence' here in my gallery is another result of such a workshop). This workshop is about tarot cards - and a part of this picture was used for the ace of swords.

The sword is really a thing of beauty, and the delicate roses with their upturned petals are wonderful. What is the glowy stuff on the swordstone, though? The wings are spanned and glorious . Maybe I read too much into stuff....I don’ know. I’m feeling kind of poetic today, so sorry if I make you gag.
