SciFi and Fantasy Art: Repose

[6 Mar 2001] ~ One of my characters sketched something like this in roleplay... thought I'd bring it to life. I really need to learn to draw guys, grr! (Yes, it's a guy with long hair. So it looks androgynous...) Done completely in Painter.

Hehe, that's one problem I've always had too. All my guys look too feminine and all my women look too masculine. Sheeoot, people are hard! Still, this doesn't look bad at all. I personally can tell it's supposed to be a guy. This was done completely in painter huh? That always empresses me whenever somethings compleately CG. I do a lot of computer coloring, but I could never do a picture completely by CG. Good job!

It's much easier to do sketches with a tablet than a mouse. I can't even think how some people manage to produce awesome art with a mouse...

Thicker eyebrows, less mascara(heh heh),and harder features are among the more masculine traits.Maybe that will help next time.BTW,I like the hair...nice and soft.

What an elegant portrait! Heh. Yeah. I thought it was a girl, but i guess it could be a guy, too. Either way, he's beautiful, and I can't believe you did this all in painter. Bravo!

I could retort: I can't believe you did all your CG with a mouse! 12

I indeed agree with the above comment, Very elegent, and the shading is so soft and lovely. This is likely one of my favourites of yours. I need to learn how to use my tablet like this...

Not too many secrets... Painter's Pencil for the sketch, Soft Charcoal for shading (much like Photoshop's airbrush) and the 'Just Add Water' (PS's blur and/or smudge) ... I'm still learning how to get non-wiggly lines done with my CrappyTablet<tm>. (It couldn't draw a straight line to save its life...)

The way I see it, he's an elf, so it's ok for him to be a LITTLE femine! it's good.

*grin!* Hehe, thanks. Yeah! That's why he came out that way...

Androgynous beauty is the best of all beauties, I believe. Besides, masculinity is ugly.

When i looked at it, it didn't even cross my mind that it was a girl, i thought, oh what a beautiful man ^_^. Maybe its just me. I think you did a wonderful job.
