...and the winners of the Another Nine contest are:
1st place: Michelle Tolo, Another Nine
"This is a great character design.I love the collapsible wings and springy heels. This character would be a great addition to our cast. It could be the reconnaissance doll for the team, scouting out the road ahead or flying missions from roof top to roof top through the ruined city. There is a lot of charm and elegance to the design, just enough detail to grab your attention without the character feeling cluttered and the head flare detail is genius.Congratulations on a job well done." - Shane Acker, Director of 9.
Michelle Wins: Character 9 Figure - 9 - Tim Burton - Neca and The Films of Tim Burton: Animating Live Action in Contemporary Hollywood (Paperback)
2nd place: Xavier Collette with "Number 17"
Xavier wins: Tim Burton (Paperback) and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland Novelization (Hardcover)
3rd place: Natalia Gutiérrez with 808.
Natalia wins: The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy: And Other Stories and The Nighmare Before Christmas (Special Edition)

Elfwood has been given the opportunity to potentially have some of our
work reviewed by academy award nominated director
Shane Acker, as part of
the release of his latest film,
9. Produced by
Tim Burton, starring Elijah Wood and Jennifer Connelly amongst others,
it's the story of when a small rag doll
9 (voice by Elijah
Wood) first comes to life.
9 finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world
where all humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers
a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome
machines that roam the landscape intent on doing them harm. Scheduled
for release in the UK on the 28th October.
Competition
closes on
24 October 2009 ---CLOSED!!!---

| Date | Name | Comment | | | 14 Oct 2009 | Elizabeth Lortie | Loading...I saw the movie and I loved it! So original, I wish it was longer. Wow, what a great contest. What an honor for the winner! Does the submission have to be stitchpunk (good guy) or can it be a machine (bad guy)? Monica *Volcanokitten* Christensen replies: "This contest is about creating another rag doll, so only good guys this time " | |
| 15 Oct 2009 | Saber Alexander Orion McConnell | Loading...This is awesome! I love this movie...and I love "9" contests. It says only one entry...does that mean also only one picture? I had thought about drawing a sort of portrait and one or two scenes for the characters. Or should I just stick with one picture also? Thanks! Monica *Volcanokitten* Christensen replies: "Only 1 entry = 1 picture. However you can post a collage (1 picture displaying 2-4 drawings). To show you what I mean here’s a link to one of my boyfriends drawings that displays the B/W and coloured version of a character. http://www.elfwood.com/~kent/2006-Naurunan_Crustafish.2905034- .html It’s technically 2 drawings in 1, but something like this would only count as 1 entry. Just a suggestion " | |
| 15 Oct 2009 | Tiana Fair | Loading...Does anyone know the rating for this film - I’m hoping my kids can watch it. I’ve already posted my image - was great fun to make. Thanks! Monica *Volcanokitten* Christensen replies: "IMDB says: Rated PG-13 for violence and scary images. " | |
| 16 Oct 2009 | Silver Lady | Loading... | |
| 19 Oct 2009 | Michelle Tolo | Loading...The movie looks awesome, and the contest theme interested me enough to make my own entry . I will upload my picture today, and then I hope it will be moderated in time before the deadline (it would still be accepted even if it should be a little late, right?). Monica *Volcanokitten* Christensen replies: "With entries for the contest we process them ahead of the queue. I’ve processed your picture, so now you just need to enter it into the contest." | |
| 19 Oct 2009 | Touba Guerroumi | Loading...Hi, I had to edit the text for my submission before it could get accepted and the moderator who looked over my pic told me post a message here when it was done. Well; it’s done. Monica *Volcanokitten* Christensen replies: "It’s processed now." | |
| 23 Oct 2009 | Agatha Nicodin | Loading...Thank you for processing my picture so fast! lots of love! | |
| 24 Oct 2009 | Bag-Chan | Loading...I’m so entering this contest!! I’m new on this site so I hope it’s okay!! so all we have to do is create 1 character for 9 and we can only enter 1 picture but it can be a picture of many pictures like, a character sheet? I still have time right!?! Monica *Volcanokitten* Christensen replies: "Of course it’s okay for a new member to enter the contest Only 1 picture yes. Character sheets are fine." | |
| 24 Oct 2009 | Christina Myuu Brockus | Loading...(Newbie here sorry in advance to any stupidity) I entered my contest picture, I hope I entered it right, I did a character sheet with a colored picture at the top, I hope it is not to late to have it entered? Monica *Volcanokitten* Christensen replies: "Actually you didn’t enter it in the contest itself. All you did was upload the picture to your Elfwood account. The way you should have entered it was to post a link to your picture in the Forum. Since you’re all new at Elfwood and stressed because of the time, I’ve just entered the picture in the contest for you. Good luck in the contest " | |
| 26 Oct 2009 | Titta Tolvanen | Loading...Um... Monica... why my name is "*beep* Tolvanen" in the list of this contest’s entries? Monica *Volcanokitten* Christensen replies: "I can see I’ve written your name excactly as in your gallery, but for some reason it’s censored in the forum. I don’t know. Omid is the head of the Forum, so he’s the only one that can answer that." | |
