Discuss Elfwood News Entry: Wanted: moderators!

We are in need of more moderators, since Elfwood is in constant growth.

We're currently looking for moderators for all the areas.

Requirements:

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must have a published account, preferably been published for a few months.
  • You must have a good record, meaning no major rejections in the past year, for example for copying or repeated rejections.
  • You must be willing to give at least 1-2 hours a week to moderating.
  • You must have a good understanding of the rules.


    • If you have the requirements, then please proceed in reading the rest and volunteer.

    You're welcome to volunteer for more than 1 area. We will put up a note when we have enough volunteers, and all that have volunteered will hear back from us, but it might take a little while, so please be patient.

    For FanQuarter: We prefer volunteers that are familiar with a number of anime and/or American comics. We are currently looking for volunteers who know their American comics like Marvel and others, but we also need people who know their Dragon Ball, Inuyasha, Yu-Gi-Oh, Fushigi Yuugi, Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Naruto, Gundam, Hellsing, Sailor Moon and others.

    To contact us please go to the Contact page and choose "Volunteering" from the drop-down box and make sure you put which area or areas you are volunteering for in the subject line, like "FanQuarter mod", "Wyverns mod" or "SF&F mod". If you want to volunteer for more than 1 area, just list them both like "FanQuarter and SF&F mod".

We generally prefer users that have been published for at least 4 months, because it gives us an indication of how well you follow the rules, but it’s more a guideline than a rule to becoming a moderator."

    You don´t need to be a patron or highly talented artist to be a moderator? I think my work is somewhat average when it comes to talents and quality.

    I just joined the other day, and am keen to get on the moderator’s panel as I was wondering what the holdup with getting my stories published on the site was. I’m 22 and have been looking at pictures and stories on the site for years though. let me know if I can be of help 2

    I just sent a message volunteering my time. ive been a published artist since 2005 and ive been wanting to be a moderator. when will i find out if i can be a moderator?

    I’m very interested in volunteering, but would like to ask about support. Will there be support for any new moderators until they settle into their new roles and a way for any new moderators to ask for confirmation of anything they may be unsure of? Or will it just be a case of refering to the rules and their own interpretation of the rules? May sound like a silly question but before I make a request to volunteer I’d like to know that help is at hand should it be needed.

    :-) Monica *Volcanokitten* Christensen replies: "In the beginning you will be training with a mentor that will guide you through moderating until he/she feels you’re ready to start moderating on your own. Even after training there’s ALWAYS the option of asking fellow moderators for input if you’re unsure about something. Even "older" moderators can get a bit unsure at times."

    I’m 18 in 22 days, do I have to wait until then or not? It’s not like I’m new to moderating even, I’m currently an admin on one website and a moderator on another.

    Hello, wouldn’t mind working as a moderator, however since I’m currently studying chemistry at the university, my schedule is more often than not smacked. So, I was wondering if it’s possible to work less than 1-2 hours some weeks and compensate for it on other weeks?
