We have decided to give temporary amnesty to all older pictures that breaks the rules for minor reasons such as non-genre artwork, quality issues, lack of credit etc. However we will still react on copied/stolen art and harassment cases. Thomas is working on a whole new system that will make it easier for users to upload their artwork, but he also has plans on making room for the non-genre artwork, which means all current non-genre artwork will eventually be moved to the new non-genre area when it's up and running. /Thomas The rules are now, finally, updated. We've decided to relax the somewhat strict rules of our genre definitions for the SF&F art area. There are now three groups a picture can be put into (A) Clear, (B) Borderline and (C) Non-Genre. Before the change, we rejected most of the type (B) pictures, while we from now on allow up to 50% of them in a gallery. That's the major change, and details/definitions can be found at the Art Rules Page at Elfwood. There has also been numerous minor changes, details fixed, typos removed, etc! The rules are better and clearer now. Many thanks to all moderators who helped me and the ERB to rewrite the rules! ps, We will allow a 3 month grace period, use this one to add good fantasy/scifi descriptions to your type (B) pictures, please! /Thomas We're currently planning to relax the rules regarding non-genre art a little, letting in some art that's not clearly scifi/fantasy into galleries that consist to the majority of scifi art; this is kind of going back to the rules as they were in the early days of Elfwood. I will post more info here once I have finalized the wordings of the new rule. [ Discuss Here!]
/Thomas We've previously (July-03) decided to not enforce the new quality rules on already present (i.e old) art at Elfwood - but we've now changed our point of view and will actively remove art that does not follow our quality guidelines (See the SF/F art rules page for details on what that means). /Thomas The updated General Rules are now online. The rule clarifications were done by a combined effort of all moderators and complied by Matt Summers and Monica Christensen. We have also rewritten the rules for SF&F art, FanQuarter and the General rules for all areas! [ Discuss Here!]
/Thomas The area known as "Zone 47" is now removed from the rules section. The "Lothlorien" area is now for both Science Fiction and Fantasy art; and will also loose it's Lothlorien name. This is a step in the merging process, see the merger page for details... [ Discuss Here!]
