FanArt: A Young Minerva

I dunno what it is, but I just love drawing characters from J.K. Rowling. And not the 'kids', the second-gen, Harry and Ron and Hermione and so on. I guess it's because the movies haven't corrupted my perceptions of the older characters.

So this is Minerva McGonagal as my friends and I originally thought of her. We went through and correlated each HP teacher to one of the teachers at our middle school (this was when we first read the books). Our Math 7 and Algebra I teacher, Mrs. Durkee, is THE Minerva McGonagal. Except for the fact that she's only about 25 and has pitch-black hair and is UBER sarcastic. She throws stress-balls at people who say something idiotic. She calls them the Apples of Stupidity.

Anyway, this Minerva is a cross between Mrs. Durkee and the book McGonagal. And I just HAD to make her younger, in her student days. She's on her way to Muggle Studies (with her copy of 'The Art of War'), a prefect, and about to get someone in trouble for making fun of her socks and clogs combination. ^_^ Minerva owned by J.K. Rowling.

That's definitely how I'd imagine her as a girl. Exactly Hermione's personality.

Okay I love the sound of you teacher.... wish mine were that cool!

Anywho... that is kinda how I imagined the younger minerva! I actually started writting a fanfic about that saying it and this is TOTALLY how I imagined her.

Nicely done!

18 N. Ailly Kinney replies: "Yes, she was definitely the best math teacher I've had. Although my Algebra 2 teacher was a close second, but that was just because she was German and would occasionally switch languages in the middle of class and laugh as we tried to figure out what she said. She was really cool. And thanks for commenting!"
