FanArt: Parvati Patel

This picture ought to be called 'Fun with Lighting Effects!' Very useful rendering tool, I highly recommend it.

This picture was done for one simple reason: Although Ms. Rowling has done a fantastic job creating the world of Harry Potter with wizard culture, wizard currency, wizard food, drink, sports, and games, I couldn't help but notice she neglected to create any wizard musical instruments! So, I did it for her. Here is Parvati Patel playing Harmonus Orbs at what looks like a concert for her school. Harmonus Orbs are made of quartz, encased in crystal, and are enchanted to make a number of different sounds at different pitches. The wizard directs the orbs with his or her wand, and the quartz spheres vibrate, sending audible sound waves. Amateur orbs only make a few sounds, but a professional set is capable of a range of sounds equivalent to a 100-piece orchestra. Parvati is playing an advanced student set consisting of 8 orbs. She's quite proficient!

Ink and photoshop. Don't forget to see Padma!

Cool! Leigh, that is SO creative! Wow! I can't wait to see Padma... what's SHE going to be doing? (I remember reading in book... two, I think? that Padma and Parvati are IDENTICAL twins... because Harry was all surprised they'd ended up in different Houses...) Cool lighting effects. The best is her pose and expression, though! I'd like to see a little more value (like you have on the Harmonous Orb things, applied to Parvati and her clothes), I think it would balance out the picture nicely. She looks a leetle bit flat right now. Mebbe on future pics? Yah? Anyhoooo, lovin' the new piccie! The colours are great, sooo bright! I wonder if MY Photoshop has the lighting filter... it seems to be lacking Filters at random, for no explainable reason...Do you have v7.0? If so, you should have the lighting filters. They're fun. I know what you mean about her looking like a cell animation. You're right, but I thought it looked interesting so I left it.

Wow, this is cool. Did you come up with the detail all on your own? I mean you really went into it, you came up with the look and the sound. I always did wonder what wizards do for music besides the Wyerd Sisters ( i think that is how you spell it?? ). Good job, I hope to see more creative things on the way.

Blessed Be

AmandaYup, they're my own invention. Thanks for the compliment. =) Padma should be showing up in my gallery in a few days... she plays an instrument, too.
