FanArt: Yusuaki- genbu of the earth

This be the beautiful but cold Yusuaki-sama from Haruka no toki nakade. A new series I've become obessed with. The manga is sooo pretty!! *_*! It's based on a dating sim game. The story line is kinda like Fushigi Yuugi because it deals with seishi. So Yusuaki is the 2nd seishi of Genbu representing the earth. He uses a feather to attack with according to what I've heard. Colorpencil with text n' background via Photoshop. ^_^!

Sounds coolies...love the hair...*wishing she could draw half as good as you...still huggling Chipurri* The feather is so prettifully drawn...and of course the bishounen is always a good thing...Wo Ai Bishounen! (Yes, that _was_ my sick and twisted mix of Chinese and Japanese. HA!)

The hair is gorgeous. I especially like the way you've coloured the face. And the detail in the feather..! lovely work.

This Picture 's great, but the face isn't so brilliant

I'm going to be honest - the picture in not that great. His face is somewhat out of proportion and the feather lacks any real detail. In fact, the colors were blended together to much, creating a dark red blob. The hairstyle didn't exactly flow with the direction his face was turned; I go the image of him looking down, yet your drew the hair as if he were looking up or a normal 3/4 view. Which brings me to another point - you have no set light source in your coloring. It may look alright, but since you are pursueing a career path in art, it makes a big difference in the quality of your drawings. The hair color also has no set color and looks to be two different shades of green. The shines are too bright and detract from the drawing and make his hair look 'stripey'. I would suggest using the same color and varying your 'hard and soft' coloring techniques. The picture also lacks any real detail, resulting in a plain, forgetable image.
