| 26 Jul 2005 | Chemical Ryou | 1 the setting sun represents the death of the Sun God Ra and the beginning of His journey through the Otherworld. 2 the Dessert West of the Neil is the Land of The Dead. 3 the Pyramids were called by the Ancient Egyptians ‘The House of Eternity’ 4 some people believe that the Pyramids were meant to represent the Creation mound of earth out of which life sprang; subsequently, the dead King was a seed inside the mound (Pyramid) waiting to be reborn. In the painting, we find The Un-named His Holiness among flowers…
I would like to point out the following: the rulers of Egypt in the 4th Dynasty (when the Pyramids were constructed according to the tradition of Egyptology) were called Kings. The term ‘Pharaoh’ comes from the word ‘Fay-ha-ru’ [phonetically spelled] which meant ‘the ruler of the Grate House’; Kings were berried in Pyramids, not Pharaohs. [The term arose in the New Kingdom, most resent to us chronologically] Second, the Neil –did- flow past the Pyramids in Ancient times, so technically speaking, this painting is geologically correct.
Lastly: I LOVE YUGIOH TOO !!!
| 26 Oct 2005 | dogmatix | ................dah, trying to be coherent, I swear. Wow. I. Yes. Yesyesyes. XD I love this pic. Absolutely. *hearts the pic* I stand in awe, I really do. Symbols, symbols, um *kickstarts brain* Um, papyrus=Lower Egypt(if that's what it is? >_>;; have only seen one image of papyrus plant). Sun=Ra/Amun-Ra, pyramids=tomb of the king(and court). (and, er, just a note on the above comment, 'pharaoh' is indeed from the New Kingdom, comes from 'per aA'='great house', originally referred to the palace but came to refer to the king in the palace, um, yeah. Oh, also, the, um, name.... >_o;; necklace/collar thing, didn't go all the way around - they had clasps, sometimes in the shape of falcon heads, at the back)
*drools over the pic some more* I love this pic. I don't know how to say it any better than that. The colouring, the way he fades at the bottom, the way you did Yami/Atem's hair, just... everything.
