FanArt: 'Black' Jack Randall

Jonathan Wolverton Randall, Esquire, of his Majesty's Eighth Dragoons. Sadistic and cruel, with a taste for Jamie Fraser. I think I caught at least unpleasantness with his features, if not downright nastiness. Spent four days researching eighteenth century British uniforms, finally cobbling together the bits that I liked into the amalgam Captain Randall is currently sporting. I know it's not a dragoon's coat, but I looked at dragoon coats, and I think they're hideous ;) Besides, he was also the officer in charge of Wentworth prison, so he likely had different uniforms.

I kind of pictured him like Billy Zane, too!!

We all have read the fabulous books by Diana Gabaldon, starting with "Outlander"....if you've never read them, DO!!!!!! Well worth it...

Good job on the drawing, though!

Needs to be thinner and a little more gaunt in the face i always imagined him like that actor who plays lancelot of the latest king arthur film starring alongside clive owen only more paler accurate uniform though.

:-) Brian Keith Cooke replies: "Never even thought of him. Interesting idea. My own inspiration, like many of the commenters here, was Jason Isaacs."

DIE, YOU RAT! *starts stabbing the picture... then pauses and clears her throat.*

God I hated him, and with apparently good reason. You did a great job. Especially with the uniform.

---Spoiler to the later books----

Have you thought about drawing Mohawk Young Ian?

:-) Brian Keith Cooke replies: "I haven't actually. I never felt as driven to draw Ian or Bree or Roger as I did the orginal characters. I should remedy that at some point."

I appreciate the work you've done on the uniform, somehow I always imagined him looking like "Jason Isaacs" from "The Patiot".

:-) Brian Keith Cooke replies: "He's supposed to, that's just as close as I could get at the time. You have to admit, though, he looks right nasty 12"

It's a very good pic, you've captured that little bastard in a nice way...it's not exactly the way I imagined him, but he looks realistic. Can't believe that you did all that research..

I hate that man...I'm reading the Outlander right now...and he is so evil and disgusting. Iuuu!

Nice drawing, very realistic and authentic! As many before me have said, Jason Issacs was born to play Black Jack (and I think Frank Randall) That he is so loved as an actor and so hated in his characters only prvoes how gifted he is!
