FanArt: Fork of Horripilation

Horripilation: the bristling of hair from cold or fear; goosebumps. Fear the Fork!! This magical weapon from Morrowind does an incredible 1-3 damage and is worth one whole shiny gold coin. By the way the picture is not to scale, the netch is huge, I dunno like 10 feet long, and the Fork is just regular fork-sized. Sheogorath, aka the Mad God, sends adventurers on a quest to kill a giant bull netch with the Fork in exchange for his Spear of Bitter Mercy. Unfair trade, the Fork of Horripilation is the best weapon ever! Bull netch must be stabbed! Other things must be stabbed! Fork fork fork okay I'm done. July, 2004.

I really like that game, and the picture too, but I never got that quest. Where do you find the "Mad God"?

2 Melissa Costello replies: "Oops, sorry I took so long to reply, after Elfwood crashed in April my comment e-mails for this account stopped coming! Anyway, thank you for stopping by and commenting, and if you're still interested in completing this amusing quest Sheogorath can be found in the St. Delyn canton underworks, the Shrine of Ihinipalit. Talk to the statue."

Before our hard drive crashed (due to it being a worthless piece of... um... Scrib Jerky), I had a Morrowind game in which I'd maxed out my stats... and with that particular game, I had done this quest for the Mad God...

Only... I never gave him back his fork. Nope. Never went to get the spear. -grin-

I kept the Fork and killed Vivec with it.

(Ok, ok... first I wittled him down a bit with my trusty enchanted Daedric Dai-katana, but I did deal the deathblow with THE one and only Fork)

And some vampires... And I got turned into a Baerne vamp in the process... So I did most of the vampire quests with the Fork at least in my inventory...

And some other stuff, too. But those are the important ones.

I would have gone and killed Almalexia with it... except that I already had. Hehe.

Dagoth Ur had also bitten the dust. Muahaha...

I had waaaaaaaaay too much fun killing things with that game... and with that Fork.

The only thing that would have made that Fork better, however, would have been the changing of the F to SP... As in.. Spork!!!

hehe.

I'm sorry... I'm kind of low on sleep and high on caffine, so the above likely made no sense whatsoever. Yeah..

Lovely picture, by the way. ^__^

And yes... that Fork was the best item in the game!!

(Except for Capn's Guide to the Fishy Stick and the Mudcrab Merchant and Verminous Fabricants, although the latter two really aren't items... ))

Yeah... once again, sorry for the rambling and discombobulated manner of this comment...

But... yeah..

Oh! A suggestion for this picture:

Umm... Actually... I have none, other than some attempt at a simple background rather than just the white.

The sweatdrop is spiffy, too!

1 Melissa Costello replies: "Ooh yeah I should have made a Morrowind-esque background...oh well. Great comment, it wasn't nonsense to me! And I agree; killing things was the best part of that game. My favorite thing to do was to kill the guy in mournhold wearing a white robe, take it and wear it, drop everything except for a weapon then run around as the "white angel of death", wantonly killing NPCs. Sooooo much fun! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!"

Squee! I was replied to! Yay!

Oh... I remember that guy. Hehe. I merely put his white robe on display in my spiffy house I stole from someone in Balmora that I then turned into a museum.

What I did once, though, was wear a red colored robe, Dark Brotherhood boots, and then the skooma guy in the snowy expanses of Solstheim.. I took his hat.

And went around as Santa Claus, essentially... Ok... a really, really insane vampiric Santa Claus... who worked up a rather high bounty by killing off the guards. Yup.

Hehe... I'm glad to have found someone with a similar passtime!

By the way, I took a look through your other pictures, and your non-fan art gallery because I could... and I must say, I like your dragons a lot. ^__^

I want a pet Weanguin, though. So cute!! Hehehe...

And, for the record, Myazaki's films are totally awesome!! Which one's your favorite?

Mine's either Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke. -nod-

I haven't had a chance to see all of them, yet, unfortunately. Ah well..

Glad you don't mine my rambling comments!

Happy continued drawing!! And... Happy Oblivion playing... whenever it comes out...

Merry Christmas!

18 Melissa Costello replies: "Yeah I stole a house too, the one in Caldera that's directly to the right of the Mage's Guild (Valvius Meruvius' house, I think) where I put all my cool stuff on display. Haha I need to try the Santa Claus outfit..."you've been naughty this year, so you get stabbed with the fork of horripilation!!" Hey, thanks for checking out my other gallery, I'm glad you like my dragons and the dangerously adorable weanguin haha 2 And as for Miyazaki, I love all of his films, I'm not sure if I could pick a favorite...My Neighbor Totoro is the best no-troubles-in-the-world-happy movie so that's probably my favorite. All of his newer movies are great, and I was able to see Howl's Moving Castle in theaters...that one's coming to DVD in March 1 You should definitely see his older movies from the 80s and 90s if you haven't, like Kiki's Delivery Service, Castle in the Sky Laputa and Nausicaa; they're all great in their own way. Hmm I should have asked for a scanner for Christmas, I have like 8 pictures waiting to be scanned and uploaded...oh well. Have a great holiday!"

Lol, love the art! love da fork! if you have the shivering isles for oblivion you get to talk to Big Head! (the old owner of the Fork of Horripilation) and get it back to him! yes it has the same attack and effects as it did in Morrowind. although the best part about the quest was hearing what big head had to say!
3 Big Head: YOU HAVE THE FORK?! NO? *cries* SAD SAD SAD SAD BIG HEAD!

I’d love to see one of big head 1, wish i could do it but then I’d have to make another account!8

:-) Melissa Costello replies: "Thanks for commenting 2 I do indeed have Shivering Isles, but I haven’t started it yet because I want to finish the main Oblivion quests first and have something to look forward to. Well actually I did poke around a bit, looks awesome!"
