Art for Tales from the Dark Season... 'When he was six years old, Cyrius had asked Lazarus Mapp why Muggles couldn't use magic, and could they be taught? When he regained consciousness, there had been two thick books to read; crackling pages that smelled of struck flints, old glue and scorched leather. Cyrius had read them obediently, spelling out the difficult words with a dictionary, and although he had only understood a fraction of the information contained in those books, he had slowly deciphered certain concepts.'

I have said it before; will reiterate here- it is a fabulous image; perfectly captured, the misery of his childhood. Ali Solenarian Van Dam replies: "The rope? It's for whatever you imagine that it's for. Yes. Exactly that bad. Lucky he grew up to be so calm and well balanced, right? Right?"

Ali Solenarian Van Dam replies: "I've been contemplating revamping the pic in colour. I do like the mood the black and white gives, stark and lonely, but I'd be interested to see if the same atmosphere could be maintained in muted colours.Heh. Scruffy little child, he is. Looks as though he's been bathing in dust for a year. Not entirely convinced that some of it isn't bruises, but I suppose colouring it would tell me."
