FanArt: FLCL - Haruko and Naota

I have to wonder why I drew this, considering FLCL reflects almost every aspect of anime that I hate- Cutesy poo, disturbing underlying sexual themes, awkward comedy, and pure reluctance of all logical faculty. Yet, it is one of the best series I've seen in some time and I don't know why. About the art: this is probably not the best piece of fanwork because of its calmness, and if you've seen the show it's anything but calm. Also, I believe that an interpretation of someone else's character should be done in your own style rather than trying to emulate the original art, and this becomes very apparent when I draw anime characters. The way I draw faces is not in the style of anime, so it gives my anime fanart a weird look of American...ness.

Noata was supposed to be Naota

Noata looks like an adult midget.
Haruko looks like an old woman.
Shorts are extremely creepy.
The guitar needs a double shotgun barrel and a mini chainsaw.

i really like like it, both the artwork and the sieries flcl- and i know i shuldnt drag on you- i didnt draw it- it isnt up to me how you drew it etc, but i would have enjoyed 3 things

1) needed to have Haruko in regular clothing/ not spport shorts
2)Haruko needed to look crazier, and show more of her personality
3) WHERE IS THE VESPA!!!
*really good work though

I just happened to stumble upon this from Google Images while looking for reference pictures from FLCL.

I don't know why everyone else seems to hate this picture. I love it! It has your own style, not a copy of everyone else's. The shading and details are amazing, and both characters' faces express so much emotion it's great! I'm not sure why everyone's confused about Haruko's gender--I mean, I didn't bother checking... o.O But all in all, I think that this is what fanart should be--one's expression of one's favorite characters in one's own style.

it's not "midnight blue", it's supposed to be azureglo, and everythings pretty good, 'cept for these 4 things:
Haruko-chan looks like a dude,
the Rickenbacker 4001 is supposed to be azureglo (blue),
the faces need a little bit more anime in them,
and Ta-kun needs to have his hair just a little longer.

NICE JOB ON EVERYTHING ELSE, THOUGH!!!

So i really like this except for one thing and it is that haruko's coat is longer, the short shorts are up to you but i think that her outfit would look more attractive on her if you had the coat more midbut lenght
takun is very cool and well done and i enjoyed your style quite a bit
