FanArt: Kim

This version of Kim, Kim Gillian, is my character for an X-Men Evolution RPG at Elftown. Thus, it's based on Marvel's X-Men (huge surprise). However, the RPG is long dead and the character also. I'll never again do another character named Kim, it gets way too complicated.

As always, Kim is genderless, agile and a telepath.
But see what Kim's wearing! It's an exoskeleton made by Kim to protect eir body and direct eir telepathic energy as bolts from eir hands. The laser gun is just a cool laser gun. I designed the suit (and the gun) myself, out of the blue in five minutes... but when I redrew it, I added some more detail and colour. The reason why I designed it like that is that Kim has to be able to move perfectly in it... you know, being extremely agile and so on. And it could probably be better, but anyway. It's the first one I've done that I actually like.

Any idiots can see that the light is being produced by the laser gun and the perspective is beautiful,Ray needs to get a life,constructive critiquing is one thing out and out belligerence is another.
I love it and think it is exceptional.

:-) V. E. Lehkonen replies: "Thanks! Actually I meant the light source to be just general mainly... like in everyday life... metal reflects light quite strangely though."

Now I totally know what you mean... *shakes hand with artist* The thing which makes me think of you... maybe you too.. how people create these very creative sort of comments...they must have a lot of time..

*Wowies* I just can say... it is a great piece of art and the coloring is one of the bests I have seen around!

7 V. E. Lehkonen replies: "Thank you! *shakes hand back*
The funny thing is, I didn't really have time, but it was my first that kind of flame *sob* I'm so proud. XD"

jeeez!!!!!!!!! ray ray is dumb, he just tries to bust out these fancy words to insult this drawing with isn't that bad! 1 nice work,...............................................................................ray ray is STUPID!

:-) V. E. Lehkonen replies: "I'd fall on the side of ignorantly silly source of amusement on the case of RayRay, but I guess it's the same as stupid... lol. =)"

Heylow! First thing I have to say, is I like the picture. It's nifty. Second, for the people who keep insulting RayRay, arn't you kinda just dropping to ..RayRay's level if you do that? Although I do love the way the artist handled it Heehee. Just thought I should throw that in (And please don't think I'm agreeing with that comment, I happen to love the picture, it's so very ...uh...spiffen lol!!) Alright, I've said my two cents, now I'm broke, I'm going to go panhandle! Bai!

:-) V. E. Lehkonen replies: "Well, RayRay did one thing the others didn't... he attacked my pic without any grounds, so I guess that lowers him from the level of the other insulters. Heh heh X-)
Thanks!"

LOL! Hey, i'm back and i thought I'd check this one out since you got a flamer. *pulls out a poker and jabs a marshmellow on the end and puts it over the flamer* I just love roasting marshmellows over a nice small flame...

Other ppl will try to weild their power even when it's not necissarily their place to do so. When ppl (Ray) may try to show off their high IQ by offering random facts that don't necissarily offer anything useful for the situation at hand, but instead just prove their knowledge of esoteric trivia. Ignore him. There's a great deal of hype and not much substance.

A true artist doesn't leave flames, but constuctive criticism, which RAY obviously had NO intentions of doing because it would INJURE HIS BIG FAT FLAMING EGO to compliment someones efforts put into a work, which should b recognized long before the work is even concidered part of the conversation.

How about congratulating on things he HAS acomplishe, hmm, dear Ray? Like his overall form? The effort put into this peice looks like it was to revieve something, not to impress pidly little mind like your own. How about the stacking form? The masculine hourglass? or the obtuse cylindars? No, you were to buisey gloating over your assertion that was thought tob intelligent, but simply undermines the rest of us real artists...How about the color rebdering??? Even if the light seems tob comming from more than one direction, it shows that the light has high watts and is overhead, displaying the neatly curved shadows where the armor curvs and flows. Oh wait, you probobly have no idea what these things are.

Just remember *bites into the marshmellow and sticks another one on* the higher a monkey climbs the tree (Ray) The more you see his arse. anyone who has art abilities can respect that FACT and NOT the oppinion of one who has NO respect for his/her own Fellow artist, which RAY currently and constantly is displaying.

I do not kno you, therefore can't juge you as a person, but the actions that RAY has presented, such as the offensive verbal (or typing) gestures $ the inhumanity presented to the fellow man, is dishonorable to all us real artists who are trying to make a true effort and Ray's further attempts at undermining you show that he/she is something less than human. your art deserves credit for a try, not degredation by someone who thinks themselves better and snoots at you.

While I can't judge RAY for being a real person, I can, however, judge him/her as a reviewer. So I must appologize humbly if this affects her/his physical psyche in anyway.

I do, however, applaud you on your efforts (which should be noted over the content of the work) and I must say that your work is very-much-so less pitiable than Ray. A job well done.

*Takes a bite out of the marshmellow and stares* Oh, i'm sorry, how rude, *thrusts a poker and the bag of marshmellows to Lehkonen* Want some? They're really good!^_^

V. E. Lehkonen replies: "That's one long comment... I took a liberty to edit the terrible text so that it was readable. I hate text in which you use numbers and letters for words! Hope you don't mind...
I really disagree with one point in it... RayRay's IQ is surely NOT high. I wonder where you got an idea like that... I mean, he's obviously flaunting with his lower than average IQ. And I did ignore him, but before that I had a little fun at his expense. He did what I told him to do... and I was just being sarcastic. I got him eat from my hand. And I paid no attention while doing it...
Otherwise, thanks."

I really like this pic, first of all.

Secondly, the real reason why I started surfing around here was you reference to the Ray dude in your bio. I'm very impressed on how you handled that particlarly nasty type of flamer.

Sheesh, what's their problem, really? Why do they spend time and energy in composing flaming reviews which doesn't even have root in reality? The pic is great.

:-) V. E. Lehkonen replies: "Thanks!
My guess is that they just have way too much time but way too little brains... But I don't really care much to be honest X)"

actually I disagree with rayray (go figure) if you think about it the lighting is practicly perfect. It's coming from above her head...so if you changed the background to match it would really perfect..

:-) V. E. Lehkonen replies: "No crap... XD
I'm VERY lazy when it comes to backgrounds..."

First off, congratulations on Mod's choice. The character itself has a very ninja-like appearance, and there is a lot of detail in the armor that makes it all seem very mechanical. I especially like the light coming from the laser gun. The shading on the armor is very good, though the lighting on the breastplates is odd, since the glare is on the other side of the gun's light. Armor however, is odd to shade, especially the way you did it here, so I could be off on that. ^_^;;

I don't claim to be perfect, but I do have some nitpicks. The hairline seems rather high up on the forehead. The hands seem slightly unproportional to each other, since the fingers in the left hand look very long, yet the fingers on the right hand can't completely wrap around the gun, (which doesn't look to have a trigger) and the eyes look as if they're looking in two different directions.

In general, it's a good piece. Congratulations on Mod's choice again. ^_^;

One last comment however, on the matter of "RayRay." I think the way they chose to comment was overly blunt and somewhat rude. However, I don't particularly agree with the way you responded. Unless you know "RayRay" personally, it seems wrong to actually attack their person and their intelligence, since the review itself seemed rather well formed, if not particularly kind. I don't think based on what I've read that I can judge their intelligence, age, or declare them "angsty" or "jealous."

That's all. ^_^;;;

:-) V. E. Lehkonen replies: "Thank you!
In shading, it's not the armor as much as metal generally... I wasn't very good at it back then. Not sure if I am now, but I'd guess a little better, heh.
Lol, I never heard anyone nitpicking on the hairline! The character is a kid, plus it's a brainy mutant, thus the high forehead, hehehe. I agree about the hands, I messed the proportions a little. Now I wonder just why the heck didn't I use my own hand as a model. XD Or, maybe I did, but couldn't still draw. I'm really bad at drawing from model...
Nope, I don't know Teh Ray personally... I only respond in the manner I'm spoken to, that's all. But I do refuse to call anything that based off of itself well formed or that its writer might be actually intelligent (though I don't have an idea in which area of intelligence it's lacking, and I don't really care XD). Er, yeah. It's an opinion and my answers are opinions, but I treat mine as such... even if I fail to make them look like it sometimes."

Hay, this picture just creeped me out. But not because of anything to do with the drawing, its the name of your character. Not only is my name Kim, but a friend of mine, her name is Kim Gillian. Spelt exactly the way you spelt it. It just wireded me out and i thought i'd let you know that there is in fact a REAL Kim Gillian. She is pretty awesome by the way lol.

One other thing that confused me, u said your Kim had no gender yet u refer to Kim as 'her' is that just for conveneance sakes? Well anyways, your picture is cool and i like the character. Ta-ta

:-) V. E. Lehkonen replies: "Heh! I guessed there must be a real life Kim Gillian somewhere, but I would've never imagined myself to find out. X) Oh well, when you make a character with a general name, it happens.
Yeah, the pronoun thing was for convenience's sake. I don't do it anymore, nowadays I just use "it" or "ey". Actually, let me change the descriptions...
Can't help it... it's "you". >_> But thanks."
