| 29 Feb 2008 | Alex Marsh | Well, my sedated sloth finally made it out of the treacle ocean...only to be kicked back in again by the mods. Apparently, for a story to be classed as fantasy, it must have blatant elves/magic/dragons. Designing an entire medieval-esque world isn’t enough apparently, because nobody’s thrown any fireballs at each other yet.
Anyways, how go the turtles?
Gabe Ender Davis replies: "Oof. Not good. They’ve only gone 149 yards out of the 1075 they need to go. I swear, that ticket won’t actually be published in my gallery until the mayan end of the world. (december 12 2012, I believe) WTC. Why did they drown you in the treacle sea, alex? Why is elfwood so set in their decisions? I mean, why won’t they let you put in a medieval story? Just because there aren’t dragons, magic or hordes of elves isn’t an excuse for them to kick you out! I say, It’s still fantasy if it’s medieval. Because the peasants and villagers never really did anything worthy of a good tale. So if you have anyone doing anything brave or heroic in there, It should be considered fantasy. Maybe not HIGH fantasy, but fantasy nonetheless."
| 7 Mar 2008 | Sarah "SnowHummingbird" Cluck | Yay, your ticket went through! XD *happily looks around at artwork.* Heee... Avatar! ^__^ Nice!! Gabe Ender Davis replies: "Hey, thanks! And thanks for being happy! I’ll get some better stuff up soon, but the extranet is goin haywire on me right now, so I’ll just have to figure it out before i upload." | |
| 21 Mar 2008 | Tony Orzech | Hi Gabe! Nice to see you finally have some art up here. Has Jenna been sharing her new drawing technique information with you yet? I see you are getting some Photoshop time in. This is a good start, I look forward to seeing how you progress. Gabe Ender Davis replies: "Hey Tony! Thanks! But don’t soften up your approach. It’s crap right now, I know. I’m trying to get some new art up, but I’m running into a few roadblocks such as:
1. Lack of photoshopping motivation
2. Elfwood glitches
3. Creativity Block
Any Advice? " | |
| 20 Apr 2008 | Dark Wish | Do ya think ya might draw Appa and
Momo
I love lemers Gabe Ender Davis replies: "Heheh.... well, I’m not so good at drawing creatures, but yeah, I’ll give it a shot. "
| 28 Jun 2008 | Krystal J Crawford | Awesome, you like Artemis Fowl too Nice art by the way And good luck with those art roadblocks Gabe Ender Davis replies: "Haha thanks! I’ve got some ideas now, I’m just trying to work up the courage to put them into effect. You know what? I’m gonna START ONE right now! Everyone! Prepare to be AMAZED!!!! ...in a few days. Since I seem to have misplaced my Wacom tablet in the postal system, and I need to retrieve it somehow. Or buy a new one. Which will be expensive. " | |
| 29 Jun 2008 | Krystal J Crawford | That’s great!!! Hopefully you get that Wacom Tablet | |

| 10 Aug 2008 | Alex Marsh | G’day, Gabe. How’re things? It was nice to have met you (and schooling our egotistical mutual friend at guess who is always fun), and visited your neck of the woods. It’s a shame to be home now. Art-wise; let’s see some more stuff! *Stands next to Jen, and begins chanting with her* DRAW! I jest. I suffer from bursts of artist’s block, too. What’s the problem - lack of inspiration, or lack of success? If it’s the latter, just practice drawing one character in different poses until it becomes natural. Most artists develop something they can do by instinct - Jen can draw wolves / Elrics with her eyes closed, and I can pump out more dragons per hour than is healthy. If inspiration is the problem, well....you’re not restricted to Avatar art. You’re not restricted to fanart. Heck, you’re not even restricted to fantasy - I tried a landscape while I was in Idaho, for crying out loud (Jen’s still got it...just needle her into letting you see it). If you can, I’d like to see anything you’ve done - sketches, experiments, crayon-drawings, whatever. Just email them to me at alexanderbmarsh@gmail.com. In fact, I’ll make you a deal - for every picture you show me, I’ll show you a non-elfwood one of mine. Alex | |
