| 28 Jun 2002 | megan artist | My uncle told me, when i asked him why i seemed to always do girls better then guys, that a girl will do better at a female pic because we have the same body structure. We see ourselves all the time in a mirror or window and know how to do that shape. Guys in a female artists sense are to blocky for our need of something to draw that has flow. I myself do mostly female picture when i draw. You should see all of them. I have one male picture wich for the fact i don't draw guys that often looks pretty damn good. My friend angela can draw just about anything. She did a cross of yugi and sephiroth that looked great. So really it doesn't matter what you draw or how you draw it, what matters is that you do what you do well and the way you are most comfortable with. Trust me ppl only those who have an objection will object and most of them can't draw anyway. If they aren't contructivly critisizing your art they aren't worth listening.
By the way. I love the way you have her face. Its slightly pointed down but not to much so she's still looking at the see-er. It quite a good job if you compare it to my work ^.^ | |
| 28 Jun 2002 | Beshaba | One of the reasons that women can draw the female form as well as they do is because, it's what we're faced with every day when we look in the mirror. Does that automatically make us lesbians? Does the fact that we draw what we know throw us into a category simply because that's what people think we should be? I hardly think so. It's a pity that simple minded half wits usually open their mouths before and vomit their drivel before their pathetic excuse for higher brain functions kick in and let them know that they're being retarded. Honey, don't let the have-nots of the world get you down just because you possess a talent and aren't afraid to express it and they don't. It's a lovely picture. And come to think of it, her face kind of reminds me a bit of a cross between Dewshine and Khavi from the final story in the Rogue's Challenge book. Wonderful use of shading in the face. | |
| 28 Jun 2002 | Sera | Nice shading and hair, I really like the added touch above the boots! And this appears to be slowly circling downward in the lesbo-conversation. I figure I'll add to the decent. _Why_ aren't most of us "mature enough" to _accept_ that some of us don't _have to_ accept your sexual _beliefs_! Get over it and just appreciate the art! Good grief! | |
| 1 Jul 2002 | Afke van Herpt | Amanda! You were moderator's choice! That so cool, congrats I've seen this picture before, and I still think it's good. And you got the red to not look so smudgy as it does sometimes. I always have to save my 'reds' at very high quality. Ah, so this is an elf from the holt with all the elves that have really long hair. Petra told me about it | |
| 16 Nov 2002 | Carly | Great work. And the people who labeled you a "sicko lesbian" for drawing a good female body are just wierd themselves. The way anyone draw says nothing about their sexuality, and who cares anyways?
By the way, if I had that much hair, I would seriously freak after a few days and chop it off. I guess it would build up neck strengh.
Great job again. | |
| 24 Apr 2003 | Amanda Walker | Silvergrace? Lovely name, but wasn't one of Rainsong's wolves named Silvergrace? *reads too much ElfQuest* Anyway, I like this picture a lot. If only my hair was that long, but then my husband would get tangled in it at night. *sigh* I hope you know, we're all behind you 100% Everyone else has said it, but I will, too. Ignore those three that called you a "sicko" and that other foul name. (I could go into the injustice of the label, but it'll take too long.) I happen to think the three are actually one person submitting multiple comments under different names. I also happen to think this is the same person who's been a plague to other very talented artists like yourself. If they had a shred of courage, they'd've given their real names. Not to steal your glow, but I think everyone has a right to their opinion so long as they can back it up, not turn-tail and run when they're called on it. *definitely reads too much ElfQuest* | |
| 17 Jul 2003 | Starhawk | Umm... Isn't Silvergrace already a wolf's name??? | |
| 14 Aug 2003 | Silvergrace <chieftesssilv | Hey Amanda, nice to see my favorite picture of myself. To answer some of those questions the othera are commenting about, yes...Silvergrace was the name of Rainsong's wolf in the first EQ Novel. When I came up with this name, I spoke witht he Pini's and they were flattered that I would want to name my Chieftess after their wolf. Only goes to show how much they are respected...I even named my youngest daughter Kahvi. See ya in the Vale. | |
| 21 Sep 2004 | Sunreel | stunning! i love all the details and her outfit, the hair, shading, all of it. makes my fingers itch to make a figurine looking like her (i both draw and make figurines... and have i mentioned i'm a huge Elfquest fan? *lol*). | |
| 21 Sep 2005 | Grrrr | Love it your name is the same name as mine. | |
