My favorite character from any animé ever. Toby from Unico in the Island of Magic, the second Unico film, which was released by Sanrio back in '84.

In the movie, Toby personifies mystery and melancholy. For much of the film, it's unclear whether his intentions are good or evil. His magician's cape always maintains its shape. This one had major use of the pen tool in Photoshop 7, and a lot of pressing pause while watching Unico for references. All mouse, no tablet. The background was made in Terragen.

I had a crush on Toby when I was a kid...still do, really. ^_^ Justin Manteuffel replies: "It was Toby's angsty panache that did it for me.
