FanArt: Knights of the Old Republic

NOT based on the KotOR games and such. Yes, they are FINALLY complete. The Twi'Lek is Ira, and the Zabrak is Melaay. They are fancharacters for Star Wars.

Ira and Melaay were good friends while growing up. Ira's master was a double agent and began influencing his Padawan in the ways of the Dark Side, telling her that they were the true secrets of the Jedi and it was a test all Padawans would have to face so she shouldn't talk to any of them of their training. She was eight when that began. Melaay noticed her friend's temper would flare up without control. When Ira was about fifteen or so she left the Jedi Order to join her master as Dark Jedi plotting the coup against Darth Sidious.

Melaay picked up on some un-Jedi like habits from spending time with Ira, but she was too loyal to the Jedi and Republic to ever turn. Eventually her slight lack of discipline resulted in the death of her former master, Shenan, on a mission and her recklessness endangered several other members of the team. Upon the request of the council, Melaay left the order.

Coloured with Crayola and Prismacolour colour pencils, Lines drawn with Zebra mechanical pencils and Zebra black ink fine point ball pen.

This pic still has me jealous, I could never work my prismacolors quite like that, lol. You so should have gotten a mod's choice for this, but maybe I can put it on a new prismacolor tour.

Nice picture! I really like the body positions!

Damn. DAMN!! THAT'S AWESOME!! I particularly like the bottom figure... magnificent. No offense intended, but WAY better than the HP pics I've seen you do thus far. Whatever you did differenlty here (more experiance, perhaps?) keep it up. I LOVE the coloring!!!

45 Sierra Grillot (Raven Scarlett) replies: "Oh yeah, I'll even admit it's better. It's one of the only new pics from 2005 that's in my gallery, everything HP related is quite old. I haven't deleted them because I still feel an attatchment to most of them and for some damn reason they seem to be doing well. (They're my lifeblood for commissions!)
Oh yes, the bottom one came out almost exactly as I intended, for once. Thanks very much ^^"

holy crap ^^ nice work. I assume these are Dark Jedi?

:-) Sierra Grillot (Raven Scarlett) replies: "thanks. the twi'lek is dark, the zabrak is just unorthodox."

Well, uh, I have no idea on what this story is related too. But it is Amazing. Yay, go girl power, w00t. ha. I love the movement of the hair, and the bodies. And lighting/colouring, too. The flesh-coloured tank is slightly annoying, I have a problem with flesh-coloured clothing...but I suppose it's easier with lighting, a bolder colour would be quite difficult. Good for you, keep up the great work!

:-) Sierra Grillot (Raven Scarlett) replies: "Actually, the tank is more that shade because I was aiming for a sandy-coloured flight suit... sort of like Luke's in The Empire Strikes Back. Thanks for commenting."

I rather like this one myself...
the shading is quite brilliant. I love the attention to clothing and the Twi'lek's Lekku .
composition wise, I would have liked to see more at the top to attract attention to Ira's face... but hey, that's just me.
are you ever going to do a background? that would make it seem more balanced.
I love Melaay's hair. it describes movement quite well ^-^

the thing that struck me the most, however, was the lighting. very cool.

this image seems somewhat close to you... ?

:-) Sierra Grillot (Raven Scarlett) replies: "What exactly did you have in mind to bring more focus on Ira's face? If it's colour-wise, I can probably fix it. As for backgrounds... I wanted to do one, but I have this tendancy to ruin pictures when I try injecting backgrounds, so they're a rare occurance in my art at this point. I've been working on them seperately so my pictures will someday be more than characters on a blank sheet. Thank you, the lighting was my pride in this piece, and I still think it's my best showcase as far as my colouring ability goes. Yes, this piece is quite important to me, I still consider it to be my best."
