Renji is a character from the anime series Bleach.
Here he is caught in thougts, because he tried to save a human boy and now the boy is very badly injured and they don't know if he's going to make it. Renji feels that the boy wouldn't have been injured so badly if he had tried harder. Later on in the series it is said that the boy made it.
