FanArt: The Points of FiveContrary to being in Fan Quarter, this guy is not based on any particular character. He's just a totally random gargoyle on a pentagram, but the mods wouldn't let me put him in my SF&F gallery, so he's here. NO, he is NOT Coldstone/Othello. Painter and Photoshop.
Original character, generic gargoyle, not in the style of anything particular.

Let me ask you, how did you do the perfect shading on the red cloth and how do you make gold glitter like that? (zergaloth@hotmail.com) Awesome pic by the way, really!
| 1 Oct 2003 | SAM | That is not a pentagram, it is a pentacle. There is a differece. A pentagram has the piont of the star at the bottom, then two pionts at the top. Now the difference in meaning. The pentacle is the symbol for things of a wiccan nature while the pebtagram is associated with the devil and "black" magic. Very nice picture but I dont much like when people get the two mixed up. J. ´Kythera´ Contreras replies: "And the late Scott Cunningham, the late Lady Sheba, Janet and Stewart Farrar and DJ Conway define pentagram as the five-pointed star, and the object upon which it is inscribed as a pentacle. While I appreciate your concern, the only confusion of definitions I've been cautioned about is that of the symbol itself and the object (or tool) it is inscribed upon. So by the definition I've been taught, this is, in fact, a gargoyle on a pentagram. ;]" | |

| 19 Nov 2003 | Anonymous | Hey cool pic. when i was younger i loved the gargoyle cartoon series. so great job. | |
| 5 Dec 2003 | Amber Barke | Being wiccan myself, and absolutely in love with the show Gargoyles, I have to say that this pic is just incredable! I used to design my own gargoyles -very- often as well, but they were never really as good, or creative as this one! I love it!..I think I'll stick to my fantasy dragons and such in lothlorian, and leave this stuff up to Pros. ^_^ Keep up the awesome work! | |
| 14 Jan 2004 | Monica *Volcanokitten* Christensen | This looks great The colouring and the idea behind it. He looks so sanctual, spiritual or whatever. | |
| 14 Jun 2004 | Evil_Empress | This is amazing, as is all of your artwork. One question, what is the center of his belt? I cannot tell of it is just a belt buckle, or if there is a picture on it. It looks almost like a panther's head on it. In amy case, from the way his legs look bent back properly, to his well defined muscles, you have drawn an excellent piece of art. J. ´Kythera´ Contreras replies: "Thanks! Technically, that's supposed to be trifoil knot on a silver circle, only it's drawn point-down to fit inside the shape of his belt." | |
| 1 Oct 2004 | M.A. "Elton Ramos" Pasculado | I looooooove what you did on this piece! But what I really like is your coined title "The Points of Five". I've been searching for a while now for the name of a psi cult in one of my stories... When I saw your work (art and name), it was as if it crashed into me that I found the perfect name... Can I have your permission to use this name? J. ´Kythera´ Contreras replies: "Thanks! Though, permission isn't really mine to give--I borrowed it from the title of a song by an artist named "Zeeza." I came across it quite by accident, and have yet to find much information about her. o.O" | |
