FanArt: Grand Master Jeff

Now you‘ve done it! Here comes the entire 3rd company of the Dark Angel chapter of Space Marines with reinforcements from the 1st company, of Deathwing terminators.( Off white colored guys) This is a Scene depicting myself leading my Dark Angels in the never ending quest to purge the galaxy of our fallen brothers and reclaim our past glory. It also shows the expedient deployment that the Space Marines utilize, as drop pods filled with marines screech down from the orbiting starships. In the distance the Thunderhawk dropships bring the heavier supplies into combat as they negotiate the flak filled skies on their approach to the landing zone. This piece was done in pencil on a flat table, which seemed all right until I got it on my vertical drawing table to ink it. I soon realized how great it was to draw on my vertical table because the perspective was screwed up, which I would of noticed right away . Anyway after redrawing 3/4 the picture I got it scanned and colored it in photo shop. All characters are from the table top miniature strategy game Warhammer 40,000 from Games Workshop.

This one is great! Love the comic style you use. Hehe, used to play Dark Angels years ago, so they've always been my favourite chapter... Repent, for tomorrow you die! 1

Great picture !
I'm a Dark Angels player myself. I particularly like the fact that you can just make out two Strike cruisers in orbit, nice touch.

I put this picture on my tour. Hope you don't mind. I also put this picture as my desktop wallpaper and I've started noticing so much more about this picture. Things like the heat wash from the flamer, the Dark Angels symbols lining Jeff's cloak, and the planet in the background. [I couldn't believe I missed it first time round!] Anyway, this is an excellent picture. Well done. Keep it up!

Have any of you artists thought of going professional? Great picture Mr Porter. I agree with your comment about the atrocity of war.

Nice pic but I find it amusing how you have taken to the Dark angels chapter and comment on the atrocity of war.

The Dark Angels chapter have a VERY chequered history in the 40K universe and are at best borderline heretics.

But as 90% of wars are Religion orientated, it is quite fitting to use the Dark Angels.
