| 27 Dec 2002 | BJ Chavez | um.. i think its Alucard not Arucard.. japanese are stupit Kelsie A. Cooper replies: "Actually in Hellsing it is Arucard. Alucard is the character from Castlevania so it just looks like they altered the name a bit for hellsing." | |
| 29 Dec 2002 | BJ Chavez | *sigh* i knew youd prolly say sumthin like that. so here we go.. the fact is that the japanese language has no L in it, so they put R's where there should be L's. in exchange when they speak their R's its kinda like spanish where they roll the tounge so it has a sorta L-R sound to it. i dont know what version of Hellsing you saw but his name is Alucard when pronounced corectly. who published it in america? pioneer? i didnt see their version of it but if they call him Arucard theyre bloody stupid and dont know what theyre talkin about. | |
| 19 Mar 2003 | Sheeba | In Japan both the Hellsing character and Castlevania character is Arucard. We in the U.S.A. have the "L" sound so we pronounce both as Alucard. Any character with this name will be a vampire because it is Dracula spelled backwards. Unless you're in Japan, then it's Dracura. | |
| 19 Mar 2003 | Anonymous | In Japan, it is Arucard. In the English version, they do put the "L" in and call him Alucard. Since Pioneer is a Japanese studio the Pioneer branch in America is pretty good about translating names. Personally, Arucard sounds much better and you can't call him Al like so many newbies and baka do. Also, in the anime magazines in the U.S. they call him Arucard to keep true to the Japanese version. | |
| 24 Oct 2003 | Allison Davis | Thank you Sheeba! This repeated controvercy of 'Alucard' 'Arucard' drives me nutter (well, more nutters). The translaters (when translating from Japanese to English) didn't convert the 'l' over. They kept the 'r' sound (to make it fancy?). ^^; So really, for English, it should be ALucard. But when it comes down to it, it's just what one prefers to use. Anyway, back on topic. I like your drawing! ^^ Especially his fang. Grr! | |
| 8 Jul 2004 | Heather Feather | Golly gee wally! All anyone is talking about is his name. What about the pic? I think it is v. v. nifty. I love Awucard, and your pic really captures his sexy slyness. | |
