FanArt: Porto Baggins

On my Pirates of the Caribbean forum, someone mentioned that Johnny Depp would be cool as a hobbit. And I, of course, had to make up a character for him :) I checked The Encyclopedia of Arda for hobbit-family-trees and decided that he has to be a Baggins. The Bagginses are the weird ones and he's a Depphobbit. *lol* So I checked the Baggins' family-tree for young, barely mentioned family members and decided that Drogo's (Frodo's father) younger brother, Dudo, was perfect!
That is, until I checked a more detailed family tree (this one) and found out he dies when Frodo's 41. And since I wanted this character to still be there for when the four hobbits return and live with them, I moved the character to Porto Baggins, who's only 20 years older than Frodo and a distant cousin on his father's side.
I based his clothes on Jack, because Pirates of the Caribbean, being 17th century, is the movie set furthest back in world history and therefore as medieval as it gets and most suitable for a hobbit. He doesn't have the boots, of course, but the length of Jack's trousers is perfect already. Then, living in the peaceful Shire, he's not wearing the hat, coat and sword all the time, but he has them at home, should he ever go on a journey *g* His hair's black and curly - sort of like Ichabod Crane. About his character - I think he's definitely got a lot of Jack in him. Punk-hobbit. *gg* But, you know the innocence hobbits have about them - he isn't drinking all the time, and probably less of a loner. Less hardened by life. Nicer. A party-hobbit. And since h's a JOHNNY-hobbit, not a Jack-one, I'm free to give him some Ichabod Crane qualities as well - speaking of innocence. He's a bit squeamish (not nearly as much as Ichabod though), very bright, and he hates spiders. Other than Ichabod, he can fight very well, just not, y'know, spiders. Unhandy when it comes to travelling through Mirkwood. ;) Then I think he, surprising everyone who knows him as a fun person to party with and play pranks (he might be the one who teaches Merry and Pip!), really enjoy reading and finding out about stuff - long discussions and storytelling sessions with Bilbo! But, adding some Dean Corso (Ninth Gate) into it, I think nobody in the Shire knows more about the dark powers of Middle Earth than Porto. He's not evil at all, just very, very interested and, of course, should it come down to it, good at defending himself and others. As to his occupation - connecting him with Chocolat as well as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - he sells chocolate. *g* Unless Tolkien ever mentioned that hobbits didn't have any... but I'm sure they did. Yeah. That's what he does. I like him. *g*
