FanArt: Keep Thine Enemy

Juri and Shiori from 'Revolutinary Girl Utena'... There's a bit of a sad relationship between these two. For those of you who don't know the Utena storyline, (spoilers ahead) Shiori starts off in the storyline as an innocent, fragile appearing character, but by the end of the entire storyline you see how manipulative she is of Juri. Juri is quite the 'perfect' young woman, strong, smart, and beautiful. She's quite the loner, not impressed with people in general, mainly posers and potential back-stabbers. Shiori caught her eye, and first she pitied her. But Juri eventually fell in love with her,keeping it secret. So, in a mixed up-sick way, Shiori delights in hurting Juri, giving her hope, then snapping away. Shiori uses Juri's secret pain as her venom. At the same time, Shiori knows Juri is the only true friend in her life, but resents perfect, stoic Juri's pity. I guess I see a resemblence between these 2 characters and the old relationships between an ancient goddess and her most devoted, yet most jealous follower. 100% markers. 18 Aug 2004	Kris	Loading... What a gorgeous picture. It's a really original idea too. I don't think I'm familar with the myth this based on. What might it be? Lia Angelene Tomco replies: "^_^ No myth in particular...but it is fanart to the anime "Revolutionary Girl Utena" or Shojo Kakumei Utena. The relationship between these 2 characters (Juri as a goddess sculpture, Shiori as her preistess)just reminds me of that...metaphor? It's my made up idea for their sad story. All the characters in Utena have some sad, pinning, angsty story about them. ^_^ Thanks so much for your time and comment!"
