FanArt: Mad Eye Moody - Definitely Mad

While working as the Test Police a couple of weeks ago, I had the inspiration to draw my vision of Mad Eye. Mostly all I had an idea about was the Mad Eye bit. So, here is what developed from the picture of the mad eye in my head. I'm working on a colored version right now, and I'm pretty happy with the sketch.
The only thing I do not like about this drawing is the inaccuracies that are present. I mean, he's supposed to have a signifigant chunk of his nose missing... but I couldn't get it to look right. I have yet to add his hair, mostly for a lack of a real idea how to do it, and I'm still working on adding scars and numerous other pock marks to his face.
I've been told he turned out too 'pretty'. But I like to romanticise Moody. I like to imagine that he was once a very decent looking man, but a hard life of battling the dark has lead him to become the disgusting-horror-inspiring creature that he is today.
Anyhow, Graphite in Sketch Book.

interesting, definately interesting here. i like the mouth...it's different. I know you don't wish to hear this, and i actually don't like hearing this myself, but i'll say it anyway: *in a small voice* it's not really how i imagined him to look. BUT! To each her own. ^_^ i like the eye, but i think maybe adding a touch of bloodshot to it would help enhance Moody's rare...electric blue. =) can't wait to see it coloured. kudos to you.

:-) Meghan Anne Merritt replies: "Thanks! To be perfectly honest, this is not exactly how I imagine Moody, either. When I started this drawing of him, all I really had a picture of in my head was the mad eye. Everything else just developed on its own. There is actually quite a bit more detailing to this drawing than is exhibited here. The scanner I have access to tends to leave out important details like my painstaking Bloodshotting. I'm working on getting him colored, and actually have another picture of him cooking on a back burner. Thanks again!"

A overlooked character in the Harry Potter series as far as artistic interests go. This is the first rendition of him I've seen. Very good work and kudos on originality.

It's an overall great pic, although I imagined him to look somewhat different. You got the expression really well, especially his glass eye. *very small voice* You do know, there's a chunk of his nose missing in the book? *ducks behind sofa* Hope to see it coloured soon anyways, and keep up the great drawing style!
