What is it that could be frightening little Shyhider...I wonder. Lessee...could it be hostile humans? Or could it be Urukh or Urukh-Hai? Or perhaps a renegade dragon? Or a rock troll? Or a rogue Oliphant? Or a Ringwraith? Or a stray Warg? Or a Baalrog? Or a dinosaurian carnivore? Or a prehistoric mammalian carnivore like a saber-toothed tiger?
Or perhaps something from the realm of Sci-Fi? How about a squad of powered-armor-equipped Terminator Space Marines? Or how about a Genestealer Hive-Tyrant? Or a Battle Titan? Or an Emperor-class space battleship? Or a Zoid Mecha?
Or perhaps something tragic is in the process of happening to which she is being an unfortunate witness? How about her village is being or has been destroyed by any of the above-mentioned possibles? Or she's received news of such a tragic event? The list of possibilities is endless. Use your imagination.

XD Which is why I didn't give the reason she was frightened. There is a specific reason, but people guessing is so much fun. Not to mention projecting your own reasons for her fright probably adds a little for the pic.
