FanArt: Ashitaka on Guard Duty

Princess Mononoke remains one of my favorite movies of all time. I imagine that after parting with San to aid the reconstruction of Irontown, Ashitaka volunteered as a guard in and around the town--thus being able to fulfill his sense of responsibility while also escaping the bustle of the town and visiting the forest he loved (not to mention San). So here he is on the lookout for any unusual visitors in the forest. This pose was created by me, as it appears nowhere in the movie. Photoshop.

I just watched Princess Mononoke. It's the perfect story abut love and mother nature. It gives a good point about how sometimes us humans go too far.My favorite character has to Morro, the wolf god, because she is a wolf(duh) and the person who does her voice is Skully from X-files.It's a classic in my book because Hayao Miyazaki is one guy who knows his magic(and career).

I think you hit all the right points for the costume and the background is okay I guess.

The only thing that bothers me is that the face seems deformed and the left arm is too fat around the elbow.Think about improving some maybe.

That's all she wrote-

Largo-sama is the ultimate l33t m4s73r!

:-) Mika Turim-Nygren replies: "My favorite character was obviously Ashitaka...but I love Miyazaki's work too.Sorry if this sounds defensive, just trying to reply to your comments...what about his face is "deformed?" Can you be more specific? Because I practiced drawing from screenshots from the movie, and I drew his features as closely as I could to how the animators drew him. And as for his left arm...it's being drawn back, so it's foreshortened...It looks bigger because of the perspective it's in, but that doesn't mean it's fat. Try this pose in a mirror and you'll see what I mean."

I love it! The whole thing is absolutely gorgeous! I am absolutely crazy about the work of Miyazaki-sama, and I think this is a really well done image of Ashitaka, who I love. Anyway, keep drawing, I want to see more!
