FanArt: Acroyear

Here my rendition of the 1970’s Micronauts figure Acroyear. First made by the American based Mego toy company upon Takara’s Microman toy line, the Micronauts where really nice toys. I didn’t own more than three as a kid, but most of my friend had some and the Sears catalog, which I knew by heart, featured them. Happily, Palisades toys re-issued the classics Micronauts toys recently, and I could get some. As an exercise and for the fun of it, I draw a series of characters pic. For the whole cast, I used photos of the original figure to come up with an odd 1970’s color palette; I felt it helped to the retro feel. Here the Acroyear, bearing notably the 2000’s version of his sword, the 1970’s being only a plain dagger. In addition of the multiple Kirby dots, I added the sparkling lines as a reference to the initial Acroyear picture card, featuring a photo as the toys with a shiny sparkling effect.
