FanArt: Berserker

Orson from Record of Lodoss War. Kind of an amalgamation of OVA Orson and COHK Orson. Inspired by the song 'Don't Call My Name in Battle' by Heather Alexander. The woman has some issues, which is what makes her music so much fun! Anyway I thought this song was perfect for Orson. Here are the (legible) lyrics:

'Don't Call My Name in Battle'
Don't call my name in battle--it's not wise.
Do not distract me when you see a new soul in these eyes.
For when the war god fills this flesh I wear
I am no more your friend, I am the spirit of the bear.
Don't call my name in battle--stand away
For I will never hear you but some other creature may.
It never sees a friend but only foes.
Just count the bodies lying where this taken body goes.
Don't call my name in battle--wait the time
Until I fall and rise again with eyes you know are mine.
And then perhaps we'll rest and talk of home
But you'll not be surprised to see how much I walk alone.

(Oh, I almost forgot: I hate Deedlit! There are charaters other than that stuck-up, spoiled, whiny, girly-elf!)

Very good likeness! I love that series. I have to admit to having drawn Deedlit 10 I also drew one of Pirotess. It's nice to see someone draw a character other than one of those two. Great job.

Poor Orsen has to die too. IT'S NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!! He's one of my favorite characters. That scence makes me cry every time too.

Yeah, I understand you on that one. "Oh, Parn!" "Protect me from this dark elf, Parn!" "Only I can have you, even if I am 160 years old" Yup, I know what you mean by too much deedlit. It is good to see others, and you portrayed Orson rather well. good job!

this is a veary interesting picture, but I thik you should say that Mercedes Lakey is the one with issues. dew to the fact that Heather preformed that song for Mercedes Lakey CD.

22 Krista Schroth replies: "Well I'm not a big Mercedes Lackey fan so I didn't even know she had a CD. But to be perfectly clear, when I did a search for what album the song is on I found it on "Songsmith" based on a novel by Andre Norton & Ann Crispin. But it seems Heather's the one with the writing credits and her other songs establish a trend of rather bitter and/or morbid lyrics so I think I'll stick with her."

As Heather is one of my favorite singers, I'd have to agree with the fact that a lot of her songs are rather morbid. But that doesn't detract from their beauty, and this picture fits the song in question perfectly! Lovely work!

You know, I've actually MET Heather Alexander! I'm here to tell you, even with all of the beautiful songs she's written, she's also crafted a few of the most violent and angry music on record. Case in point, the March of Cambreadth: "Sound the horn and call the cry,
How Many of Them Can We Make Die!" As further evidence, when I saw her at a Renaissance Faire in 2003, SHE WAS PLAYING IN THE MUD!!! Literally! Folks, this gal is CRAZY! Wonderfully crazy!!! It's good to know the truely brilliant among artists and performers can be PHREAKIN' NUTS! That's all I have to say....;-)
