FanArt: The Doctor's Room"Welcome, fellow traveler, to my humble abode" The Doctor's room on his home planet, Gallifrey. This is roughly how I imagined his homeworld would look like before seeing any of the episodes with it (I'm not that old, I just watch re-runs). All of the objects are relevent to at least one of the first seven doctors. There are too many individual objects to describe each's relevence so if you're wondering what an object is comment and I'll answer to the best of my knowledge. This is actually the first time I've drawn anything with architecture so there are quite a few mistakes, but I'm still quite happy with the result. The Doctor, Dalek, TARDIS and K9 are from BBC's long running Science-Fiction series "Doctor Who'. | |
 | | | | | Date | Name | Comment | | | 1 Nov 2006 | Steph Salt | You really must draw John Pertwee with Bessy sometime, he was my favourite Dr after Tom Baker. | |
| 1 Nov 2006 | Steph Salt | I think that Hans means that the foreground should be darker, with some crisp edges but still mostly out of focus or blurred. The darker and crisper the details, the closer it brings an object to us you see. But I can't argue with the skill needed for the drawing in this, you've done a marvelous job of what Galefray could look like. Keep improving your skills, and who knows you might be the next set designer for it Now let's see what we have here. I watched Dr Who from the very first episode in the 60's Well I can see K9, but where is his head? Jelly babies yes, long scarf, check, Peter's Hat, check, penny whistle or recorder, check, sonic screwdriver check (mustn't go anywere without that!) You forgot Bessy!! But it's nice to see that the Dalek is in pieces though, good thinking S Shelz Keast replies: "Actually I didn't forget Bessy- her number-plate is tacked to the wall. You didn't quite get all the items and K9's head is infront of him (he's partially dismantled and probably in the process of being repaired). I do have an idea for a Bessy and Pertwee picture too, it just got mothballed but maybe it can be resurected." | |
| 1 Nov 2006 | Anneke Hut | So much great detail you have drawn here. I think this is a wonderful piece of art, I really like it (not just because I'm a fan of the doctor too LOL). Shelz Keast replies: "I love drawing in tiny details (until I get lazy)." | |
| 1 Nov 2006 | hans | A great drawing!!! This stuff takes a lot of time!! Just one remark.. The foreground should be more accentuated an the more you go to the background than you should use less contrast. Opposite as you have done. This way it will look more natural with a better depth. Still it is a great drawing and this looks promising!! Kind regards, Hans Koudenburg. Shelz Keast replies: "Thank you. At last some constructive critism, just what I wanted. And yes this picture took a very long time definity 40+ hours." | |
| 28 Mar 2008 | Liz A. VanHoutte | It would probably look something like that too.....probably more messy though....just think of all the extra crap on would pick up while messing with time and space. Shelz Keast replies: "I know it should probably have more stuff, but I couldn’t think of stuff that difinitively said ’The Docotor’. Besides the walls are pretty crowded as it is, perhaps the stuff mutates into the walls after a while." | |
| 20 Apr 2008 | Justin "Blaidd" Gill | HEAVENS TO BETSY!! THIS PWNS! And, of course, being nitpicky, I don’t think he has a room on Gallifrey, (it being spacedust and all, last I knew) but if he ever did, it would look like this. Except he might have a framed picture of Romana... but... not going there. And I love the scarf. The undying symbol of Tom. Shelz Keast replies: "I know that Gallifrey got destroyed, but I did this picture before I found that out and before I saw any of the episodes set on Gallifrey. I don’t think the doctor every really gets attached to his companions, he’s a bit egocentric (should be the right word)." | |
